The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit - British Columbia is the province’s anti-gang agency

This integrated approach enhances intelligence sharing, coordination and strategic deployment against threats of violence posed by organized crime groups and gangs in our province. Our police officers and civilian staff are highly motivated, progressive and known for developing groundbreaking methods and techniques. Being flexible and innovative in the way we pursue gangs and organized crime enables us to reduce the public safety threat on our citizens.

Project E-PURSUANCE highlights the strength of police partnerships in an investigation involving allegations of extortion and violence within our communities.

Led by Langley RCMP alongside CFSEU-BC, this joint operation brought together police partners across B.C. to advance the investigation and bring the matter before the courts.

CFSEU-BC’s Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha spoke with Red FM News in Punjabi about the agency’s role and the collaboration behind the operation’s success.

CFSEU-BC has officially launched its North District Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (ND UGET), establishing a dedicated gang enforcement presence in Northern B.C.

Between 2020 and mid-2026, our Lower Mainland-based UGET deployed to northern communities 39 times. Those deployments demonstrated the value of establishing a permanent team in the region.

ND UGET will work alongside local policing partners, responding to emerging threats and community needs through proactive, high-visibility enforcement focused on disrupting organized crime and gang activity and preventing violence.

WHO DOES THE GANG INTERVENTION & EXITING PROGRAM SUPPORT?

There is no single type of person who becomes involved in gang life and there is no single path out.

GIEP provides support to individuals aged 12 and older in the Lower Mainland and Northern B.C. who are involved in gang-related activity and are committed to exiting gang life. The program also works with police agencies in the Interior and on Vancouver Island to support individuals who are seeking to disengage from gang involvement.

People may be at different stages of their involvement. Some may be at risk of becoming more deeply entrenched in gang activity. Others may already be involved in serious gang-related activity and have reached a point where they want to make a change.

The circumstances behind gang involvement can also be complex. That’s why GIEP’s approach is individualized.

The team works with participants to understand their circumstances and identify supports that can help them move forward, including safety planning and connections to housing, education, employment, counselling, mental-health and addiction services.

Different people. Different circumstances. Different paths forward.

🚔 JOINT ENFORCEMENT IN KAMLOOPS

From September 24 to 26, CFSEU-BC’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team worked alongside Kamloops RCMP during a Proactive Interdiction and Enforcement Tactics workshop and joint enforcement deployment.

Multiple individuals were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking. Officers also seized:

🔹 A loaded fi***rm
🔹 Suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and co***ne
🔹 22 other weapons
🔹 Approximately $5,000 in Canadian currency

By combining specialized training with frontline enforcement, police are strengthening their ability to identify criminal activity and disrupt gang-related and organized crime activity in communities across B.C.

Leaving gang life can be complicated. It can involve concerns about personal safety, housing, employment, education, family relationships, mental health, substance use and what comes next.

That’s where the Gang Intervention & Exiting Program (GIEP) can help you with the right support network.

GIEP provides support to individuals aged 12 and older in the Lower Mainland and Northern B.C. who are involved in gang-related activity and are committed to exiting gang life. The program also works with police agencies in the Interior and on Vancouver Island to support individuals who are seeking to disengage from gang involvement.

The team brings together police officers and civilian case managers who work with individuals to understand their circumstances, identify their needs and develop a personalized plan toward leaving gang life.

Depending on the individual, support can include connections to:

👮‍♀️🤝 Connecting with the Community at the 2026 Public Safety Open House

On Saturday, October 3, members of CFSEU-BC’s Gang Intervention and Exiting Team (GIET) joined community partners at the UBC RCMP / Vancouver Fire Rescue Services Public Safety Open House at UBC.

GIET members welcomed visitors to their information booth, shared End Gang Life (EGL) resources and spoke with families, children and youth about the Gang Intervention and Exiting Program (GIEP) and the support available to those looking to leave the gang lifestyle.

🚓 The event brought together several RCMP support units and community partners, including Recruiting, Forensic Identification, Integrated Road Safety and BC Emergency Health Services, which showcased B.C.’s first electric ambulance. 🚑⚡

Events like this provide an important opportunity to connect directly with the community, answer questions and share resources focused on gang prevention, intervention and education.

🧡 On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take time to acknowledge the history and lasting impacts of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples, families and communities. Reserve Constable Anthony Cameron shares his perspective:

“For me, this day is deeply personal. My grandparents and parents attended residential schools. They made sure I learned English, but I was not taught my own language.

Today, I am still learning Anishinaabemowin. I am grateful to the Elders and Knowledge Keepers who kept our language, culture and teachings alive so they could be passed on to future generations.

I am proud to be part of B.C. RCMP Indigenous Policing Services and the work we do to support education, understanding and relationship-building throughout the province in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.”

Today is a day to listen, learn, reflect and honour those who attended residential schools, those who never returned home, their families and their communities. 🧡
