A STEPS Success Story featuring MNBC Citizen and STEPS student, Olivia Moore.

“While I am a long way away from complete success in my field of study, through the helpful support of MNBC, I have been honoured to find opportunities and grow my passion within science as a university student.

I began university hoping to pursue a future career in healthcare and instead fell in love with understanding chemistry and biology in the world around us. While medicine remains a future goal of mine, I've opened my mind to different areas of job opportunity, such as research and teaching. In my eyes, this has been a success as I've been able to meet new people within our community who have encouraged me to join new experiences, such as volunteering at the local hospital and attending seminars of women in science and Indigenous women in health care.

I hope that with my future success, I can give back to the smaller communities through healthcare or research and encourage other Métis individuals to seek offered support. This is a passion of mine because if there's anything I've learned, it is that science thrives with more diversity.”
