Proud to welcome home Team Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes following the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games. 🇨🇦

It was an honour to meet athletes from Surrey who proudly represented Canada on the world stage.

Our athletes showcased incredible determination and excellence, bringing home 36 medals and inspiring Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

Canada’s new investment in sport will help strengthen communities, expand opportunities for participation, and continue supporting our world class athletes from the playground to the podium.

Last week, I joined business and community leaders from Surrey and Ensenada for productive conversations on trade, investment, and future partnership opportunities between our communities.

Connecting directly with students and listening to their lived experiences is essential as we work to support youth mental health.

Today, that conversation is more important than ever.
Social media has become a central part of everyday life, but for many young people, its impact can be concerning. Excessive use has been linked to increased anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and isolation—and in the most devastating cases, it can contribute to self-harm.
As parents, teachers, and community members, none of us want to see young people struggle in silence because of the pressures they face online. We all share a responsibility to listen, support, and help build healthier, safer digital spaces.

That’s why it was so valuable to visit Elgin Park Secondary alongside my colleague MP Jake Sawatzky. We had open conversations with students and staff about their experiences, and the policy considerations needed to better support youth and address social media addiction.

A special thank you to Ms. Trish Wagner for her leadership in engaging students in this important discussion, and to everyone who shared their perspectives so thoughtfully.

Today, we remember the Komagata Maru incident, a somber chapter in Canada’s history.

112 years ago today, 376 passengers arrived in Vancouver but were denied entry and forced to return.

As we reflect on their story and this shared history of Sikh, Punjabi, and South Asian communities across our country, we reaffirm our commitment to a Canada rooted in fairness and inclusion.

Great spending time at Crescent Beach Marina and learning more about the hardworking local crabbers who help shape our coastal community in South Surrey–White Rock.

Thank you to Tim Charles, owner of Crescent Beach Marina, for the tour and for sharing more about the rich history and importance of the local fishing industry in our community. I enjoyed touring the yacht manufacturing facility and experience crabbing firsthand out on the water 🦀
