When Brenda Locke was elected with “team Doug McCallum” in 2018, that “team” cancelled the Cloverdale ice complex because of a zero tax increase promise. When Brenda Locke put the project back on the books, the costs ballooned to over $131 million dollars. She had to use Provincial funding of $70 million dollars to make the project come to fruition, of which, $35 million was used for the cost overruns. Is this a fiscally responsible Mayor and council spending your tax dollars? We think not.

Election promises of zero tax increase will see cuts in services, no new facilities, no new firefighters, no new police officers and or the sale of City assets to pay for the necessities and amenities the citizens of Surrey need and rely on. Imagine Surrey will cap any tax increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in order to maintain services, hire more frontline workers and build new recreational facilities.
