All are welcome to attend the Fall Community Grants Presentation on Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at Sussex Elementary School, 7pm. There will be Community Grants provided to 12 local organizations for projects for youth, the arts, seniors and the environment. Come and learn more about projects going on the in Sussex area.

30 September is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. There will be a national commemorative gathering called "Remember the Children" National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This will be broadcast on APTN and other major television and radio networks at 12pm (ET). The event will be live from Parliament Hill.

Did you know the majority of Canadians do not have a will or it is outdated. It is estimated 62% of Canadians do not have a will and 12% who do have a will but it is outdated. Having a will is one of the best ways of helping loved ones and making your intentions clear.

Community Grants help the community. The SRHS Concert Band received a Community Grant to engage a band clinician to help refine the group performance. The students worked all year to improve and traveled to a competition at Mount Allison to compete against other high school bands. The SRHS Concert Band finished first place and with lifelong skills.
A donation to the Community Foundation helps the community. These grants are 100% funded by donations. The next round of Community Grants will be presented on October 21. Stay tuned for details.

The New Brunswick Federation of Music Festivals reported that the grant they received in the Fall of 2025 for the Sussex Music Festival was a success with over 500 students participating in everything from band, classroom singing, voice, musical theatre and piano. The festival included workshops for musical theater and band. These enrichment workshops in Sussex are possible thanks to the volunteers within the local music community that organize and prepare events for students.
The next Community Grant Applications are due on September 9, 2026 at 12pm. Community Grants are possible from donations to the Sussex Area Community Foundation to help improve the lives of those in the area.

Since 2005, the Sussex Area Community Foundation has successfully supported local projects to improve the community. Now the pool of donations required to meet project requests is not sufficient. Consider a donation to the Sussex Area Community Foundation or starting a monthly donation to help close the gap. What a great group! Sussex Area Community Foundation is proud to administer awards to these and other local graduates as a send off after completing high school. This is a photo from the Scholars' Reception held tonight. Thanks to the Town of Sussex for letting us use the community room.
