We are having a Bring a Friend promotion during the month of September. Bring a new participant to the any KCFRC program, including Outreach and The Baby Bunch, and you will both be entered into a prize draw! This must be the participant’s first visit to the KCFRC since April 2026 to qualify for the promotion. Prizes will be awarded in early October. Join us for our weekly Baby Bunch program, where parents and caregivers of children ages 0-2 can enjoy the drop-in space in a quieter, infant focused environment. Older siblings are welcome to attend, and no registration is necessary!

Safer communities start at home.

When we think about creating stronger, safer communities, it's easy to think about big initiatives.

But some of the most important work happens in the small, everyday moments inside our homes.

It's how we:
💜 Speak to one another during disagreements.
💜 Respect each other's boundaries.
💜 Teach children that their voice matters.
💜 Apologize and take responsibility when we're wrong.
💜 Show kindness even when we're frustrated.
💜 Model equality and mutual respect.
💜 Create space for difficult conversations.

Children and young people are watching how the adults around them communicate, solve problems, show affection, handle conflict, and treat one another.

Those everyday interactions help shape what they come to expect from their own relationships.

When we model respect at home, we aren't only strengthening our families.

We're helping raise a generation that knows what healthy relationships should look and feel like.

And that helps build safer communities for all of us.

Do your kids love bringing their squishy toys along on summer adventures?

Whether you’re heading to the beach, library, or grandma’s house, don’t leave squishy toys in hot cars, in direct sunlight on dashboards, or on other hot surfaces. Heat can cause them to burst and become a dangerous burn hazard for your little ones.

*Environment Canada Issues Special Weather Statement for Southern New Brunswick*

Prolonged, heavy rainfall expected from Saturday night into Monday

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Southern New Brunswick, warning residents to prepare for a prolonged period of heavy rainfall beginning overnight Saturday and continuing through Monday afternoon.

Rainfall totals of 50 to 80 millimetres are possible across the region, with some areas potentially receiving rain at rates of up to 15 millimetres per hour.

Environment Canada says a developing weather system is expected to bring extended periods of rainfall, with bands of rain repeatedly tracking over some locations. This could result in significantly higher rainfall totals in localized areas.

The rainfall may create difficult travel conditions, with water pooling on roads possible. Localized flooding could also occur, particularly in low-lying areas.

The Special Weather Statement currently includes:

- Bay of Fundy shore
- Fundy National Park
- Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County
- Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
- Northumberland Strait shore
- Saint John and County
- Southeast New Brunswick
- Sussex

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring Environment Canada weather alerts and forecasts as the system develops.
