Swan Valley Fire Department - SVFD The SVFD provides emergency services within the Town of Swan River and the surrounding municipalities The department currently is comprised of 26 members.

The SVFD is a paid- on-call department with a full time Fire Chief. The department on average responds to approximately 95 calls per year that range from alarm activation to structure fires and motor vehicle accidents. Public education and fire inspections are an integral part of department operations. The department provides emergency response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with n

on-emergency aid available during weekday office hours. Subject to the provisions of the Town of Swan River Bylaw 4/2019, the Fire Department is authorized to provide the following services:
- Fire Suppression and Rescue
- Vehicle Extrication
- Water and Ice Rescue
- Ground Search and Rescue
- Farm Accident Response
- Wild-land Firefighting
- Off Road Rescue
- Low Angle Rope Rescue
- Hazardous Materials Response - Operations Level

The SVFD provides the following additional services:
- Fire Prevention & Inspections
- Public Education
- Fire Investigations

"15:01 - June 19/26", The Swan Valley Fire Dept was dispatched to an Accident on Hwy 10 and 3rd St N.
SVFD crews arrived on scene to find a 2 vehicle collision with no extrication required.
SVFD crews blocked traffic and determined the vehicles were in drivable conditions after Swan River EMS checked out the drivers and police took statements.
The SVFD was back in service at 16:15.

On behalf of everyone at the Swan Valley Fire Department, we would like to extend our deepest and most sincere gratitude to the Swan River Elks Lodge #384 for their incredibly generous donation of

towards the purchase of a Can-Am Defender side-by-side and trailer!

This remarkable contribution is the largest financial donation our department has ever received, and its impact will be put to great use and will be felt throughout our community(ies) for years to come. The Can-Am Defender and trailer will enhance our ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies in areas that are difficult to access, helping us better protect lives and property in all weather and seasons of the year.

River Valley Powersports also supported us with discount pricing on the original side-by-side pricing and will be providing operational and maintenance support annually such as seasonal tire/track rotation. Thank you for that!

The side-by-side seats 3 firefighters in the main cab and is also equipped with an 85-gallon water tank with a hose reel and pump that is capable of putting out grass fires in hard to access areas. The rear of the side-by-side is also capable of swapping out the hose reel quickly with a seat in its place for a first responder (i.e. paramedic) if required. The rear of the side-by-side is also designed to carry one patient in a sked (rescue stretcher) if a rescue, with an injury, was required. There is also a compartment that stores medical gear such as a medical pack, C-collars, and straps.

The members of the Swan River Elks have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to supporting the Swan Valley and the organizations that serve it. Their generosity is a testament to the spirit of community, volunteerism, and caring for others by supporting the local fire department. The new equipment will allow us to help others and continue that care for all the residents that call Swan Valley, home.

"12:54 - June 18/26", The Swan Valley Fire Dept was dispatched to a 2 Vehicle MVCE (motor vehicle collison & extrication) with possible Extrication on 6th Ave S and 1St S.
SVFD crews arrived on scene to find a 2 vehicle collision with no extrication as both occupants of the vehicles were out.
SVFD crews blocked traffic and conducted battery disconnects.
One patient was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by Swan River RCMP.

Just as a reminder to the public, if you see emergency lights and emergency vehicles blocking traffic, don't be a curious member of the public and try to get as close to the scene as possible and risk injuring our first responders. Our emergency crews are focused on patient care and scene management, so when emergency lights are activated, please stop at the block previous and turn or back away from the scene. Don't try to "just squeeze by". We don't need to deal with first responders getting struck by curious people out on their drives.

The SVFD was back in service at 14:00.

"10:59 - June 14/26", The Swan Valley Fire Dept was dispatched to a Structure Fire on Valley Road.
SVFD crews arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the basement window.
Since the door was locked, crews gained entry into the home using forcible entry tools and proceeded to the basement with a hoseline. Once in the basement, crews did not find any fire and proceeded to clear the rest of the building. Crews also gained entry to the other homes within the multiplex structure to ensure no fire or fire extension.
Crews also cut open the exterior wall nearest the fire to ensure no fire extension on both the exterior and interior walls of the buildng
Thankfully no injuries are reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The SVFD was back in service at 12:30.

"23:21 - June 12/26", The Swan Valley Fire Dept was dispatched to Commercial Fire Alarms Sounding on Main Street.
SVFD crews arrived on scene to find audible fire alarms. Crews did an extensive search of the entire building and didn't find any reason for alarm activation.
No injuries are reported.
The SVFD was back in service on June 13 at 00:30.

"15:03 - June 9/26", The Swan Valley Fire Dept was dispatched to a Retrieve a Person from Property in the Municipality of Swan Valley West.
SVFD crews arrived on scene at the intersection of Hwy 83 and Pretty Valley Road. SVFD crews deployed the Zodiac and were able to meet landowners with a truck and trailer along Pretty Valley Road where the Zodiac was portaged closer to the Incident location. After strategically planning out a method of rescue, 1 victim was safely rescued and reunited with the family.
We would like to thank the landowners that were able to use their vehicles and trailer to help out SVFD crews.
No injuries are reported.
Please do not attempt to drive through flood waters or risk going into areas that currently may look safe, you don't always know what is under the water! There's no reason to do so.

The SVFD was back in service at 18:30.

"18:13 - June 8/26", The Swan Valley Fire Dept was dispatched to a Water Rescue for People Stuck in Flood Waters in a Car on Hwy 83 Bypass.
SVFD crews arrived on scene to find a car inundated with water and trapped. SVFD crews deployed the Zodiac and were able to safely rescue the 2 victims.
While that call was wrapping up, we were notified of another incident that people were trapped in Pretty Valley Road. Crews were able to deploy the Zodiac and safely rescue 3 individuals who were inspecting flood waters in the area and got cut off.
No injuries are reported.
Please do not attempt to drive through flood waters or risk going into areas that currently look safe! There's no reason to do so.
If you have an emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
The SVFD was back in service at 19:45.
