Introducing Recycle Manitoba
MMSM’s new public-facing identity gives Manitobans a clearer, easier way to access recycling
information, tools, and resources
WINNIPEG, Manitoba — September 1, 2026 — Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba (MMSM) has introduced a
new public-facing name: Recycle Manitoba. The new name gives the organization a simpler and more recognizable
way to connect with Manitobans while making recycling information easier to find, understand, and use.
The organization’s people, mandate, and partnerships remain the same. The name change does not affect existing
municipal arrangements, or producer obligations. It is a new public identity for the same organization that has
supported household recycling in Manitoba for more than fifteen years.
“Recycle Manitoba is a clear step forward for the organization,” said Christa Rust, Executive Director of Recycle
Manitoba. “Recycling is already part of everyday life for most Manitobans, but even familiar habits can become
confusing. We want to get back to the basics by providing clear, practical information that helps people know what
can be recycled and how to do it properly. Recycle Manitoba gives us a name that better reflects that role, so we
can further build on the partnerships that support recycling across the province.”
Recycle Manitoba works on behalf of producers that supply packaging and printed paper to Manitobans. It funds
and supports household recycling programs in partnership with communities throughout the province.
In 2025, the organization provided more than $18.5 million in funding to 151 communities and other program
partners. Manitobans recovered more than 59 million kilograms of eligible packaging and printed paper, while 95
per cent of residents had access to a household recycling program and 92 per cent reported participating.
As part of the rebrand, Recycle Manitoba has brought its websites and public information together in one place at
recyclemanitoba.ca. Recyclepedia will remain available to help Manitobans quickly find out what can be recycled
and how to recycle it properly.
Recycle Manitoba will continue working with the Province of Manitoba, communities, producers and service
providers to enhance household recycling across the province.
