The Swift Current Branch Library provides materials, information services, and programs to assist patrons, to nurture literacy and life-long learning, to spark curiosity and to inspire dreams. The library board and staff are dedicated to public service, equitable access, and meeting the cultural, recreational and practical information needs of the community they serve. Swift Current Library first came into existence on May 14, 1918 when a Reading Room was opened in City Hall. Since then, the library has existed in a school room, has been adjoined to the Beatty Collegiate Institute and finally in 1974 was moved to the R.C. The building is shared with the Art Gallery of Swift Current.

We have had a blast at Teen Makerspace recently, especially so tinkering with marble runs!

However, the Teen Makerspace program on this upcoming Saturday, May 30th, 2026 is cancelled. Teen Makerspace will start up again Saturday, June 6th, 2026, at 1:30 pm with some Sphero Robot race and maze challenges!

A quick reminder that our STEAM CLUB and Storytime Adventures Programs are done for the season. We still have our LEGO Club on Wednesdays at 4PM and new Teen Makerspace program going on Saturdays from 1:30pm to 4PM.

That is not all, as registration for the TD Summer Reading program starts June 8th! Swing by the library June 8th or later to get registered, grab a bag of goodies, and read to get prizes over the Summer!
Over the Summer we will also have 3 new programs: Library Ahoy, Little Sea Explorers, and STEAM's UP!

Get in from the wind and enjoy a good book at the Swift Current LIbrary!

This week is also the last week for the library's STEAM Club and Storytime Adventures. We will be closing the programs temporarily so we can get everything together and polished for our Summer Reading Club, where we will have Library Ahoy, STEAM's UP. and Little Sea Explorers!

Thank you to everyone who came to our seed swap! We still have some spiders and aloe vera plants that are free for the taking.

Otherwise, the library will be accepting seed donations to our seed library throughout the spring, summer, and likely beyond! We will make a post as soon as we have sorted through the donations we got and have set the seed library out.

Our Seeds and Cuttings Swap is almost ready to go, so swing by if you want to swap, chat, or donate some seeds for our soon to be budding community seed library!

Speaking of community, we will also mention that the First United Church, just a block and a jaunt away, is having their Plant, Muffin, and Bake Sale this morning as well!
