Last weekend, members from Sydney Mines and North Sydney took part in a Confined Space Rescue Training weekend. Scenarios included both horizontal and vertical rescues, along with supplied air and rope rescue techniques designed to challenge and strengthen our skills in realistic environments.

A huge thank you to Safetychek for providing access to their simulator and the equipment needed to make the training possible, and to NCL for the use of their yard and equipment as training props. Your support helped make the weekend a tremendous success.

Congratulations and Thank You to Deputy Chief John MacPherson for all the years and dedication to the Sydney Mines Fire Dept (50 years). You have held many positions over the years from Firefighter, Captain, Asst. Chief and Deputy Chief, but most importantly Training Officer. John had a huge hand in training our firefighters to the highest standards to help progress our dept.
