Getting ready for MED training!

As part of preparations for upcoming Marine Emergency Duties (MED) training, our Navigation instructors recently completed specialized training with Survitec Group on life raft inflation system repacking and reset procedures.

Officer cadets will have the opportunity to practice launching, boarding, righting, and operating survival craft, davit and winches during abandonment scenarios, developing essential lifesaving skills for the marine environment.

A graduate of the CCG Academy, Ryelin has turned her passion for the water, her team spirit and her determination into a career in marine navigation.

From her first experiences along the shores of British Columbia to her missions in the Arctic, she is now beginning a new chapter in the Atlantic Region.

We were pleased to have welcomed The Honourable Kim Masland, Minister of Nova Scotia Emergency Management to the Canadian Coast Guard Academy. Her visit highlighted our new Marine Emergency Duties (MED) program and the vital role of hands-on training, emergency preparedness, and collaboration in keeping Canadians safe.

Orientation Week wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site! A passion born on Lake Ontario, a career that has taken her to Arctic waters.

For Chantelle Lasher, who grew up in Napanee-Amherstview, water has always been a part of her life. This passion led her to the Canadian Coast Guard Academy and then to the Arctic.
Now a newly qualified Marine Navigation Officer, Chantelle is beginning her career in the Atlantic Region, ready to serve Canadians on the water.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Cadet Stella Ménard on an outstanding academic achievement.

Stella was presented with the Governor General's Academic Medal, recognizing her exceptional academic excellence while attending Armand-Corbeil High School in Terrebonne as part of the International Education Program.

Stella earned this distinction by achieving the highest combined grade point average across Grades 10 and 11. The celebration was made even more special with the support of those closest to her. Pictured are Stella's high school principal, as well as her proud parents, and her younger sister.
