Cape Breton Community Housing Association Established in 1977, Cape Breton Community Housing Association (CBCHA) is a non-profit community based agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

CBCHA offers a range of community based services throughout the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Cape Breton Community Housing Association provides a safe and supportive environment for people with mental illness during their recovery process. Our programs are designed to assist clients in developing the skills necessary to live independently as they transition back to community living.

Wage is $33.91 an hour for 40 hours a week (Monday -Friday) with benefits: Medical, dental, pension and LTD.
Must have previous experience supervising staff. Must have own vehicle, a current criminal record and vulnerable sector check, current certification in Standard First Aid and able to work in a team environment. Experience in Mental Health and homelessness an asset.
References required.

Cape Breton Community Housing Association has two Street Outreach Worker positions available.

The positions will be evening and weekend shifts. The Street Outreach Worker will go out in to the community to meet and assist the vulnerable population. They will provide support and services to individuals who may be “living rough”. They will also engage and work with other CBCHA Homelessness Programs and staff.

This will be a contract up to the end of March 2025 (with high likelihood of renewal).

Independent Living Support (ILS) is a community based option that provides support services to eligible participants who are semi-independent and requires support to live on their own.

The purpose of the ILS program is to promote independence, self-reliance, security and social inclusion for the clients in the program

CBCHA will be exclusively interviewing for Casuals willing to work this program with the likelihood of the permanent positions opening up in the near future.
