Important Cornfest Parade Parking Reminder!!

If you’re parking downtown tomorrow, please plan ahead!

Tomorrow, Aust 27th, 50th Avenue will close at 2:00 PM for the Taber Chamber Cornfest Parade. All vehicles must be removed from the parade route before the closure.

Please do not park along the parade route earlier in the day with the intention of leaving your vehicle there. Parking before 2:00 PM does not mean your vehicle can remain once the road closes.

Vehicles left along the parade route may be towed.

Parade spectators: Please do not sit in front of the bay doors at the Fire Hall. Pylons and signs will be in place, but emergency access to our fire trucks must be maintained at all times. Please obey the signage and choose another viewing location.

Let’s work together to keep the parade route clear and safe for participants, spectators, and emergency responders.

Looking for alternative parking? Suggested parking locations are available at www.taber.ca/news.

Bring your chair, find a safe spot, and enjoy the parade!

Cornfest Parade Safety Reminder!!

A little reminder before tomorrow’s Taber Chamber Cornfest Parade.

With tomorrow’s Cornfest Parade just around the corner, the Taber Police Service would like to share a quick safety reminder

We know that catching candy is one of the highlights of the parade! However, in previous years, we’ve seen both children and adults step into the parade route while floats and vehicles are still moving.

Please help us keep everyone safe by staying on the curb and out of the parade route.

Parents and guardians, please keep children close and ensure they remain safely out of the path of parade vehicles. And remember, children learn by example, so please stay back and enjoy the parade from a safe location as well.

A few other tips for a safe and enjoyable parade:

- Leave dogs at home. Large crowds and loud noises can cause pets to become anxious, and dogs may startle horses participating in the parade.
- Bring a lawn chair and choose a safe spot along the route.
- Come prepared for the weather with a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.
- Give floats, vehicles and horses lots of room so they can safely navigate the route.

We want everyone, from our youngest parade-goers to the parade participants, to have a fun, safe and memorable Cornfest.

Enjoy the candy. Enjoy the parade. And remember: no treat is worth someone getting hurt.

Attention Westview Residents

The Taber Police Service Regional Community Standards Unit (RCSU) is aware of an injured badger in the Westview area.

The RCSU has been unable to capture the badger thus far and it was last observed near 50 Avenue and Westview Boulevard, and it may be hiding in a residential backyard.

While Badgers are normally shy, quiet animals, an injured badger may stand its ground, hiss and growl.

What You Should Do If You Encounter the Badger

• Keep your distance: Stay far away from any wild animal that is hurt.
• Do not touch it: Never try to move or help an injured badger by yourself.
• Call the Taber Police Service RCSU for assistance at 403-223-8991
