Taber Food Bank Acknowledging that there is disparity in the availability of resources amongst those living in Southern Alberta.

The Mission of the Taber Food Bank Society is to meet the real and immediate food needs of the applicants in Taber and surrounding area, while working toward long term solutions for this in hunger and poverty. And recognizing that Food Banks are needed but should be only a temporary resource for those living in poverty

Save the date for CNOY 2027! We are excited to announce that our next Coldest Night of the Year walk will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2027.

CNOY is a night where our community steps out into the cold to support neighbours who are experiencing hunger and financial hardship.

Official registration opens on December 1, giving local businesses, families, and community groups the chance to form teams, set fundraising goals, and walk together. Whether you step up as a team captain, join a team, or sponsor a walker, your participation directly supports our food security initiatives.

Mark your calendars for December 1 to register, and save February 27 to walk with us!

The newest national HungerCount report shows food bank reliance is higher than ever, with 2.35 million visits recorded in a single month across Canada, and 8.7% increase from last year, and up 117% since 2019. Nearly 1 in 3 visitors (32.5%) are children.

In smaller communities like ours, high living costs continue to impact working families, seniors, and children. The Taber Food Bank Society remains committed to stepping in to provide essential food security for local families.

​We’re looking for extra hands to help sort food donations, organize storage areas, check packaging, and help keep our warehouse clean and organized.

The Taber Food Bank Society needs a few extra hands for an upcoming Work Bee! If you like organizing or simply want to support local families, this is a great, hands-on way to help out.

We’ll be sorting through inventory, checking dates, and getting our warehouse in top shape.

Requirements: Light lifting and attention to detail.

Workers wanted for a fundraising opportunity!

Want to support the Taber Food Bank while helping out in our community? You can work the upcoming referendum on behalf of the Taber Food Bank as a fundraiser for our organization!

What you need to know:

What: Work referendum duties through the Elections Alberta Group Election Worker Program.

How it helps: The funds earned for your shift will go directly toward supporting the Taber Food Bank!

Requirements: Workers must complete an eligibility and acknowledgement form, consent to a standard background check, and complete required training.

We need workers as soon as possible!

Today is the day for our September Door-to-door Food Drive! Our volunteers will be out across Taber and Barnwell this evening collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items.

Reminder for Donors:
Please have your clearly labeled "Taber Food Bank" donation bags or boxes placed on your front step by 5:00 PM. Please note that while we make every effort to collect all donations, there may some that are inadvertently missed. If so, we ask that donations be dropped off at the food bank during our open hours 9:00am-11:30am and 12:30pm-3:00pm.

Reminder for Volunteers:
Come in the back door of the Taber Food Bank at 5:30 PM for pizza! Route selections can be made, and volunteers can head out at 6:00 PM.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22nd, is our annual Door-to-Door Food Drive across Taber (including The Meadows) and Barnwell!

Important details for donors:
-Please place your bags or boxes outside your front door by 5:00 PM.
-Clearly label all bags or boxes "Taber Food Bank" so our volunteers know to collect them.
-This is a no-contact event. We are asking our volunteers to only pick up items left outside and not knock on doors.

If you are taking a few minutes this weekend to prepare your donation for our door-to-door food drive on Tuesday, September 22nd, here are the items currently in highest demand at the Taber Food Bank:
Non-Perishable Foods: Kraft Dinner, Hamburger Helper, pancake mix and syrup, jam, Cheez Whiz, stuffing, canned cranberries, dry gravy mix, 1L juices, broth, cake mix, frosting, and condensed soups.
Hygiene & Paper Products: Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels, and dish soap.
Please make sure all food items are unopened and within date. Place your clearly labeled "Taber Food Bank" bags on your step by 5:00 PM on Tuesday!

We are looking for volunteers to assist by picking up donations on Tuesday, September 22nd: Head to the back door of the Taber Food Bank around 5:30pm for pizza, grab your selected route(s), and head out at 6:00 PM to pick up donations!
