We will be conducting pile burning in the Bear Lake area north of Crooked River Provincial Park and the City of Prince George. Smoke may be visible to residents in Bear Lake and to motorists travelling along Highway 97.

This is part of a wildfire risk reduction project in partnership with the Prince George Natural Resource District. The purpose of this project is to help reduce wildfire hazards by reducing accumulations of fuels (e.g., tree limbs, woody debris or organic material) from previous fuels management work in the area.

The exact timing of this burn will depend on weather and site conditions, beginning as early as this week, and may continue until June 30. Burning will proceed if conditions are suitable and allow for smoke dispersal during burn operations, though smoke may also linger in the following days.
