Our department recently purchased firefighter rehab equipment. A 10x10 pop up tent with sides, four kore kooler rehab chairs, an m18 fan, make up the majority of our rehab centre.
There are multiple benefits,physical and mental. Lowering the risk of heat related illness, allowing firefighters to rehydrate and remain cool. Monitoring of vital signs, also a spot away from the event to have a calm quiet atmosphere to decompress. There are also benefits during prolonged cold weather events where members can get into shelter to stay thawed.
This was funded entirely through donations from the family of past member Terry Mackinnon. Terry was a committed volunteer and we sincerely appreciate this generous donation in his name.
