A friendly reminder from Fish & Wildlife Ontario:

“Fire season is here. Stay informed!”

As you plan your fishing and outdoor adventures this summer, please remember that Ontario’s legislated wildland fire season is active from April 1 to October 31. While we encourage you to enjoy the outdoors, it’s important to stay informed and prepared.

Before you head out, make sure to check for forest fire updates and explore the Ontario Interactive Fire Map. It provides real-time details on:
-active wildland fires
-current fire danger levels across the province
-any restricted fire zones in effect

Also, be sure to check for any local municipal fire bans before lighting an outdoor fire. For updates on fire bans in Ontario Parks, visit Alerts in Ontario Parks.

If you spot a wildland fire:
-north of the French or Mattawa Rivers: Call 310-FIRE (3473)
-south of those rivers: Call 9-1-1

The Northwest and Northeast regions are coloured orange “Call 310-FIRE (310-3473)”.
Central and Southern Ontario are coloured green “Call 911”.

Updates to Wildland Fire Management Act:

As of April 1, 2026, several regulatory changes came into effect as a result of updates to the Wildland Fire Management Act. These changes will help ensure greater awareness of rules designed to prevent unwanted human-caused fires.

♦️PLEASE NOTE - ticket purchases need to happen before you’re able to fish, you cannot buy your ticket Friday and fish Friday. Tickets need to be purchased BEFORE Friday June 26th in order to fish on Friday, and same with Saturday, ticket needs to be purchased at least by Friday before you are able to fish Saturday.♦️
