Kwey kakina,

I want to share a short excerpt from my testimony before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs.

In this clip, I explain why Wolf Lake First Nation is often incorrectly described as “landless.” We have always had our territory. What we have been denied is a reserve, because Canada did not fulfill its obligation to set land aside for our people.

I also speak to the real consequences of that failure. When a First Nation is denied a land base, the impacts are not abstract. The cost of delay is paid every day by our families and Elders.

This testimony is now part of the official parliamentary record. I will continue to press Canada to act and will keep members informed as this work moves forward.
