** RESTRICTED FIRE ZONE REVOKED - EFFECTIVE AUGUST 20TH, 2026 AT 12:01AM - at that time, all municipal open air burning permits will be reinstated **

The Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) previously in place for the Northwest Region and a small portion of the Northeast Region will be revoked, effective Thursday, August 20 at 12:01 a.m. local time.

The Ministry of Natural Resources would like to thank Ontarians and visitors for doing their part to help prevent wildland fires and keep communities safe. Please continue to use extreme caution and follow Ontario’s Outdoor Fires Regulations when having an outdoor fire - ontario.ca/outdoorfirerules.

The province will continue to assess wildland fire hazard conditions, and an RFZ designation may be reinstated in higher risk areas if the fire hazard and fire activity warrants it.

📢 COMMUNITY UPDATE

The Township continues to closely monitor wildfire activity and air quality conditions in our community and across the region.

At this time, Township operations are continuing as normal, although some service adjustments have been made to help protect the health and safety of our staff and residents. These may include temporarily reduced pool hours and limitations on some outdoor work and activities when air quality conditions warrant.

The Township remains ready to implement its Emergency Management Plan if conditions require. We are maintaining communication with local stakeholders and staying informed of actions being taken by senior levels of government, which remain prepared to provide support as needed.

We encourage all residents and visitors to:
🔥 Respect the Restricted Fire Zone and all fire restrictions.
🌫️ Monitor local air quality conditions and limit outdoor activity when necessary.
📱 Stay informed by following the Township's official communication channels for updates.

The safety and well-being of our community remains our highest priority.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we continue to monitor conditions.

No open air burning, including campfires, is permitted within the boundaries of a Restricted Fire Zone.
