See this carbon monoxide detector? It saved 2 lives this evening.

Emergency crews from Terrace Bay Fire/Emergency Services and Schreiber Fire Department as well as responded to a report of an activated carbon monoxide detector at a home in Terrace Bay with residents already evacuated from the dwelling. During the investigation fire crews found carbon monoxide on all 3 levels of the house and the root cause coming from a pellet stove in the basement. The house was properly ventilated and residents were allowed to return to their home.

Working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are our silent heros. They stand guard 24/7.
Please ensure that your homes have them. It is not only common sense, it is the law.

Did you know???

A new place means a fresh start — make sure it's a safe one!

In Ontario, landlords are required to install and maintain smoke alarms outside all sleeping areas and on every storey — and carbon monoxide alarms too, if the home has a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage.

As a tenant, your job is to let your landlord know if smoke or carbon monoxide alarms aren’t working.

Not sure how to start the conversation? There are ready-to-send email templates at www.SavedByTheBeep.ca
