Did you know that the City has two off-leash dog parks?
1. In the Horseshoe - on Eby Street, near the Howe Creek Trail, north of Parkside School.
2. In the Southside - on Haugland Avenue, next to the Elk ball fields.
Reminder that all other trails and parks are on-leash - except the off-leash dog area south of the powerlines on Ferry Island. And no dogs are permitted on sport fields at any time.
Thanks for complying and picking up after your dog too!

CATEGORY 2 FIRE BAN RESCINDED

Effective Thursday, July 30, at 12:00 noon, the Category 2 fire ban throughout the Northwest Fire Centre, which includes Coast Mountain Forest District, Skeena Stikine Forest District, and Nadina Forest District, has been lifted. The Category 3 ban remains in place until further notice. Current prohibitions also do not affect Category 1 (campfires) that are a half-metre high by half-metre wide or smaller.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, this season, the approach to Category 2 and 3 fire bans will be more responsive to current weather conditions rather than relying on blanket bans throughout the summer, regardless of fire danger indices. While this may result in more frequent changes, it reflects a more science-based and risk-informed approach.

The City of Terrace follows the direction of the Northwest Fire Region. For more information, please visit

⚠️ ROAD CLOSURE ALERT: RIVERBOAT DAYS PARADE ⚠️

The Riverboat Days Parade is happening on Saturday! Just a friendly reminder of the road closures and parking ban in effect on both the parade route and staging area.

Setup begins at 9:30 am in the staging area on Park Avenue from Kalum Street to Eby Street. Closures will be in effect here as well as throughout the parade route:

- East on Lakelse Avenue from City Hall (Eby Street) to Emerson Street
- North on Emerson to Lazelle Avenue
- East along Lazelle to Kalum Street
- South on Kalum back to Lakelse Avenue
- East on Lakelse Avenue to the curling rink

The parade will finish around 12:30 pm at the curling rink.
There will be route marshals and traffic control in place at key points of the route as usual, but please don’t park on these roads, and ensure you plan any Saturday morning trips accordingly to account for the closures and delays that may result.

Check out the map in the Terrace Riverboat Days post below for a visual of this year’s route and how the road closures may impact your travel. Be safe, have fun, and we’ll see you there!

👏 It’s Lifeguard Appreciation Day! 👏

We want to give a massive shout-out to our lifeguard team at the Terrace & District Aquatic Centre (TDAC)!

Every single day, you bring your energy, focus, and professionalism to the pool deck. Whether you are teaching our kids how to swim, keeping our public swim sessions safe, or responding calmly in stressful moments, your hard work does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for watching over our families, keeping our community safe, and making the TDAC a welcoming place for everyone in Terrace. We appreciate you today and every day!

Join us in showing your gratitude! Dive on in, enjoy a swim, and be sure to say thanks!
