🚒 INCIDENT UPDATE: A Busy Weekend & Week for The Pas Fire Department 🚒
Our crews have been pushing hard over the last few days, responding to three major incidents in and around our community. Here is a breakdown of recent calls:
🔥 Saturday Morning: Structure Fire (South End)
First thing Saturday morning, crews were dispatched to a structure fire on the south end of town. Upon arrival, our firefighters encountered a heavy volume of fire venting from all front windows of the home.
Action Taken: Crews initiated an aggressive attack and successfully had the fire knocked down within 30 minutes of arriving on scene.
Mutual Aid: A big thank you to Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) Fire Department for their assistance on scene, helping our team overhaul the structure and ensure all hot spots were completely extinguished. This fire is currently under investigation.
🌾 Sunday Afternoon: Large Grass Fire (Highway 283)
On Sunday afternoon, we were paged out to a fast-moving grass fire running along Highway 283. Arriving crews were faced with a fire front stretching roughly 2.5 kilometers long.
Action Taken: Due to the size and rapid spread, additional resources were immediately requested.
Mutual Aid: We want to extend our gratitude to the Manitoba Wildfire Service for responding to assist. Both of our agencies worked tirelessly side-by-side in demanding conditions until the fire was fully extinguished around 9:00 PM. This fire is currently under investigation.
🏢 Yesterday Afternoon: Commercial Roof Fire (Downtown)
Yesterday afternoon, crews were dispatched to a reported fire in the roof of a downtown business.
Action Taken: Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a commercial rooftop HVAC unit had caught fire. Thanks to a quick response and deployment, crews managed to contain the fire entirely to the unit itself.
The Damage: Damage to the building was successfully limited to the rooftop unit, with only minor water damage reported inside the structure.
🤝 Thank You!
We would like to deeply thank our partners— Opaskwayak Cree Nation Fire Department, Manitoba Wildfire Service, The Pas RCMP —for their invaluable support this weekend. When the community calls, teamwork gets the job done.
