Update:

Manitoba Wildfire has made significant progress today on Fires WE006-007-008-009 along HWY-10, north of Egg Lake.

The status of all these fires has been updated to "Being Held." Please note that it may take until tomorrow for this status to be reflected on the public website; however, I wanted to communicate this update promptly.

The "Being Held" designation indicates that, given current resources and forecasted weather conditions, the fires are unlikely to spread beyond their current boundaries.

There is currently no risk to any communities within the R.M. of Kelsey or L.U.D. of Cranberry Portage from these wildfires.

Conditions are expected to remain hot and windy over the coming days. It is important to maintain vigilance and adhere to all fire bans in any northern areas you live or may visit.

Thank you,

Lori Forbes,
Municipal Emergenct Coordinator
R.M. of Kelsey/L.U.D. of Cranberry Portage

To all residents of the R.M. of Kelsey and L.U.D. of Cranberry Portage:

This is an update regarding the current wildfire situation along Provincial Highway 10, north of Egg Lake.

The following fires are currently under control: WE010, WE011, WE012, WE013, and WE014.

While fires WE006, WE007, WE008, and WE009 are classified as out of control, it is important to note that they have not expanded today and continue to be contained. Highway 10 is currently open, but we advise you check Manitoba 511, Road Condition Map, before heading out as conditions can change.

Manitoba Wildfire has deployed four ground crews, supported by a hose line established on the east side of the fires. Additionally, four skidders and three dozers are on site to assist as needed. The rapid response by Manitoba Wildfire air attack and ground crew deployment has been effective and remains ongoing.

At this time, areas within the Municipality of Kelsey, Wanless, and Cranberry Portage are not at risk.

Please be advised that forecasted weather conditions this weekend include high temperatures and low humidity. We strongly urge everyone to adhere to all current fire bans and burning restrictions in effect across the Municipality of Kelsey/Cranberry Portage, OCN, and the Town of The Pas.
