City Hall is closed for the remainder of Thursday, October 15 due to a power outage. Events at the TRCC are cancelled until 6 p.m., when the situation will be reassessed if the power has returned. Advance voting in the TRCC multipurpose room is still available until 8 p.m. but voters will be escorted in and out of the voting area one at a time.

Advance polls for the 2026 Mayor, Councillor and School Trustee elections are open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the TRCC Multipurpose Room from Thursday, October 15 to Saturday, October 17.

Voters must be Canadian citizens, 18 years of age as of election day October 28, and have lived or owned property in Thompson since at least April 28, 2026 (6 months prior to election day.)

Identification proving your eligibility to vote must be presented before you can cast a ballot. Voters should bring at least 1 piece of government-issued ID such as a driver's licence or passport or at least 2 other documents that provide proof of identity.

Hear what the Council and Mayoral candidates have to offer during the election forums hosted by the Thompson Chamber of Commerce next week.

The Council candidates' forum takes place Tuesday, October 20 at 7 p.m. in RDPC's Letkemann Theatre. Mayoral candidates take the stage at the same time two days later, on Thursday, October 22.

Local sports buffs needed!

The City of Thompson is seeking applications to fill 12 volunteer positions on the TRCC Wall of Fame Nomination Board.

Applicants should have experience in community leadership, coaching, sports associations, extensive volunteer or community involvement, be inductees of similar recognition programs, or have media or journalism experience covering local sports.

Apply to [email protected] or 226 Mystery Lake Road by 4 p.m. on October 23 to be considered.

Point-in-Time (PiT) Enumeration - Everybody Counts 2026

PiT count volunteers will be doing a street count of anyone who is experiencing unsheltered homelessness on the night of Wednesday, October 14 and the morning of Thursday, October 15.

The enumeration aims to capture a snapshot of homelessness in Thompson on the night of the count.

This count helps service providers to better understand the resources needed for the community.

Please note: anyone seen on the street the night of October 14, and the morning of October 15 will be approached by a team of service providers and volunteers wearing Everybody Counts 2026 yellow buttons.

The volunteers thank you for your participation in this important event.
