Construction Update:

We are nearing the completion of the renovations to the library from the creation of CALC.

We anticipate that by the end of April, 2026, we will have all 3 study rooms available from that point onward. In addition, there is a sizable space in the back where we will place furniture of some sort (study carrels, the orange chairs, etc) so students will have additional casual seating and study/work areas in the library.

We are pleased to announce that the University of Manitoba's Social Work Program up here in Thompson, has donated its library to UCN's Wellington & Madeleine Spence Memorial Library.

This means now Social Work students as well as any other borrowers of the library will have access to a new faculty of books for their reading enjoyment and education.

As always, if anyone has specific books they think the library would benefit from, or you feel there are gaps in the library's collection, please let us know, as we are always working to make the library's collection the best it can be to serve you the patrons.

UCN is sponsoring its Annual Academic Book Review. Open to any and all current students! Any book in our collection, even a non-academic book, is available to be reviewed so long as the review itself is academic.

Hours over the Holiday Season.

The Wellington & Madeleine Spence Memorial Library will be closed from Noon December 24th, 2025 until January 5th, 2026. We will return to the hours posted in the library's bio on that date.

Construction Update:

We are currently making room for CALC, so the Wellington & Madeleine Spence Memorial Library will be closed to the public for the next two weeks and re-open on August 18th at 9 AM.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes anyone. If you need to Claim you School ID or register for classes, you can still do this at Student Services right across the hall from the Wellington & Madeleine Spence Memorial Library.

The Wellington & Madeleine Spence Memorial Library will be closed for two weeks starting Monday July 28 and ending August 8. This is necessary for reorganization along with some renovations to welcome CALC (The Center of Aboriginal Language and Culture) to our space.

We will re-open Monday August 11 at 9AM.

As the holidays approach we thought we would list the library's holiday hours:
- The library will be closed from Noon December 24th until 9 AM January 2nd
- Starting December 14th we will not be open on Saturdays, we will be back on the 14th of January.
- From December 16th through December 23rd our hours will be 9 AM to 9 PM.

New Year
- We are back January 2nd and 3rd AM to 5 PM

- Starting January 6th the library will return to regular school hours of 8:30 AM to 9 PM Mon-Thur, 8:30 AM to 5 PM Fri, and Noon to 5 PM on Sat.
