Volunteers Needed for TD Tree Days 🌳 McAdam Park

📅 Saturday, September 19
⏰ 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
📍McAdam Park, Thorold

TD Bank and Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) are teaming up to plant trees in McAdam Park, Thorold. This initiative will help increase the green canopy in our local parks.

NPCA is looking for volunteers to assist with the tree planting. They will provide gloves, shovels, snacks and refreshments onsite.

It’s recommended that volunteers wear long-sleeved, light-coloured shirts and pants with pants tucked into socks at these events. Consider bringing your choice of sunscreen and/or insect repellent to the event.

Love this pollinator plant 🐝💗

Meet Blazing Star (Liatris), a native powerhouse for pollinators!

With its striking purple flower spikes and unique top-to-bottom blooming habit, Blazing Star adds height, color, and movement to the summer garden. Its nectar-rich blooms are especially valuable to bees, butterflies, and migrating monarchs, while its seeds provide food for birds later in the season.

Even better? Once established, many Blazing Star species are drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and wonderfully low-maintenance, making them a beautiful choice for sunny, wildlife-friendly gardens.

Would you make room for Blazing Star in your garden?

🌿 Growth happens in relationship.

Hands in the soil.
Voices raised.
Hearts open.

Join Jesse on Tuesday, September 1 from 5:30–7:00 PM for our next CommUnity Gardening Gathering at the Thorold Indigenous Unity Garden at Mel Swart Park.

As summer begins to turn toward fall, there is still much to tend, harvest, and share. Come care for the medicines, harvest sweetgrass, share stories, and simply enjoy being together on the land.

We’ll once again be joined by our Youth Drummers, their songs and rhythms moving through the garden as we work together.

Bring your gardening tools if you have them, your drum or rattles, water, and dress for the weather.

And remember, you don’t have to wait for a gathering day. 🌱 Please feel welcome to tend to the Unity Garden any day of the week. Spend some time with the medicines. Sit quietly. Every act of care matters.

🧡 Save the date: Saturday, September 19 when we will gather as a CommUnity for Every Child Matters. More details coming soon.

Until then…

We keep tending the garden.
We keep tending our relations.
We keep growing together.

Sharing. Discovering. Connecting.
Every strand strengthens our CommUnity.

🌱 Cultivating CommUnity, one seed at a thyme.
