That is from a post of Share the Road:
We love to get elected officials on bikes - this summer we hosted an infrastructure tour for Mayors & Councillors at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference

Here is some food for thought from Share the road.

What are we up to at Share the Road?
ADVOCACY

Bill 57 removes the requirement that Metrolinx transportation planning take into consideration all modes of transportation. It also changes the objectives of Metrolinx, replacing the object to provide leadership on multi-modal transportation networks with the object of providing leadership on transit networks. The Bill received Royal Assent on Dec 6th.

BUILDING CAPACITY

Our team was in Thunder Bay this month as part of the YES WE CAN summit. The goal of the event was to build capacity around cycling advocacy. Justin Jones, Manager of the Bicycle Friendly Ontario Program, provided inspiration, best practice examples and a framework for moving forward as a strong, collective voice for cycling in the city.

CHANGING THE CONVERSATION

We've launched our new campaign. The idea behind this campaign is to change the conversation and show how investments in cycling can help to address a number of important community challenges. The first phase of the campaign is an infographic, to be followed soon with a storytelling element, stickers and more.

What would a truly city look like? Instead of thinking about how to move traffic, cities should think about how to move people - and how to reduce pollution and increase health.

The obsession with self-driving cars and dockless cycles means pedestrians are often overlooked. But if we fail to accommodate those on foot, we ignore an essential part of what makes a city great

We may not think about it, but infrastructure is an important issue and is important in planning communities. A study from Cambridge, England, demonstrates that 2/3 people with disabilities, riding a bike is easier than walking.
And we all know that has great benefits for health and mental well-being and reduce dependence in costly public or private transportation.
Let's keep making a more age-friendly, accessible community!

Riding a bike may be easier than walking for two-thirds of disabled cyclists, but they often remain invisible to society. Many don’t realise that more than a quarter of disabled commutes in this university city are made by bike
