Beendigen integrates cultural teachings into many of its healing programs. Cultural awareness, the Seven Grandfather Teachings, medicine wheel and traditional ceremonies are balanced with the education components of individual and group programming.

Today, June 21st, we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. Being the day of the Summer Solstice, today marks a time of renewal, connection, and celebration. It also marks the beginning of annual gatherings and harvesting of food and traditional medicines.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a day for gathering in Indigenous communities. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the rich diversity of Indigenous cultures, heritage and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people across Canada.

Today we also honour Grandfather Sun and all of the crops, plants, and life that he brings into the summer months. ☀

Yesterday we wrapped up our 8 session Maamawi Parenting Program with Parenting Across the Life Cycle and Community Action for Prenatal and Child Health Program! This program combines traditional and cultural teachings with modern parenting practices, blending self-reflection based on traditional knowledge while encompassing a Two-Eyed seeing approach.

We also had the opportunity to take some family photos at our Golf Links location during our celebration of the Maamawi Program 🥰
