Please join us in congratulating Jasna Kallepuram Pareed (PhD Chemistry & Materials Science) for securing first place for her presentation at the Northern Ontario Ag Conference 2026!

Jasna notes that, "We have demonstrated a non-invasive method to estimate plant N using Raman spectroscopy and gas emissions from fertilized fields with a NIR gas analyzer system to support demand-driven fertilization, thereby enhancing economic benefits to the farmers and minimizing environmental impact."

The research was conducted at the Lakehead University Agricultural Research Station (LUARS). The contribution was co-authored by Dr. Gautam Das (Supervisor, Professor in Physics, Lakehead University), Dr. T. S. Sahota (Director, LUARS), and Dr. Navneet Kaur (Postdoctoral fellow, Centre for Aquaculture and Seafood Development, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada).
