🚧 Transit Detour Notice – Waterfront Terminal Access 🚍

Beginning Monday, June 8, several Thunder Bay Transit routes will use a temporary detour when entering and exiting Waterfront Terminal due to a road closure on **Cumberland Street between Pearl Street and Park Avenue** as part of ongoing downtown revitalization work.

Affected routes:
• Route 1 Mainline
• Route 2 Crosstown
• Route 11 John
• Route 13 John/Jumbo

⚠️ The following stops will be temporarily out of service:
• Stop #1189 – Cumberland & Red River Rd
• Stop #1190 – Cumberland & Pearl
• Stop #1120 – Cumberland & Red River Rd

Please allow extra travel time and use nearby alternate stops where available.

🚧 Transit Detour Notice – Today, Sunday, June 7 🚍

Due to the Khalsa Day Parade, several Thunder Bay Transit routes will be on detour today between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Affected routes:
• Route 1 Mainline
• Route 8 James
• Route 15 Beverly

⚠️ During this time, buses will not be able to access Intercity Shopping Centre, and several stops along Simpson Street, Fort William Road, and within the Intercity Mall property will be temporarily out of service.

The closest available stops to Intercity Mall will be:
• #1757 Memorial & Intercity (Route 1 to Water)
• #1004 Fort William Rd & Harbour Expressway (Route 1 to City Hall, Route 8 James, and Route 15 Beverly)

Passengers travelling to or from Intercity Mall should plan for a short walk from these locations.

🚧 Transit Detour Notice – Routes 8 James & 15 Beverly 🚍

Due to a road closure on Central Avenue between Memorial Avenue and Fort William Road, Routes 8 James and 15 Beverly will be on detour on Wednesday, June 3.

⚠️ The following stops will be temporarily out of service:

Route 8 James

• Stop #1004 – Fort William Rd & Harbour Expressway

Route 15 Beverly
• Stop #1799 – Memorial & Second

Due to the Westfort CRT Racing event, Frederica St. will be closed between Brown St. and Edward St. on Saturday, May 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Route 18 Westfort will be on detour during this time.

🚧 Route #3 Memorial Detour | May 19 – June 7, 2026 🚧

Starting Tuesday, May 19 until Sunday, June 7, 2026, the intersection of Algoma St. and Waverly St. will be closed for sewer repairs.

To Waterfront Terminal: Regular Route
To City Hall: Van Norman → Cumberland → Pearl → Algoma → Regular Route

Passengers may experience minor delays while detours are in place. Thank you for your patience during this construction work.

🏃‍♂️🚧 Fire Fighters Ten Mile Road Race - Detours | Monday, May 18, 2026 🚧🏃‍♀️

Several streets in the downtown south core and waterfront area will be temporarily closed from approximately 7 am – 12:30 pm, for the annual Fire Fighters Ten Mile Road Race.

The following routes will be on detour during this time:
🚌 #1 Mainline
🚌 #3 Memorial
🚌 #8 James
🚌 #14 Arthur
🚌 #15 Beverly
🚌 #17 Current River

Passengers may experience delays and temporary stop changes while detours are in effect.

Due to road repairs, Junot Ave is closed between Red River Rd and Walkover St today until approximately 5 pm.

🚧 Traffic & Transit Notice – Sunday, May 10 🚧

Today from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., the following roads will be temporarily closed to accommodate A Walk for Healing – Heartbeat of the Drum, in honour of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

Road closures include:
• Waverly Street (Banning Street to Algoma Street)
• Red River Road to Water Street
• Water Street (Red River Road to Saul Laskin Drive)

⚠️ Thunder Bay Transit riders: Minor delays may be experienced on Cumberland Street when buses are travelling in and out of the Waterfront Terminal due to crossing Red River Road.

Transit buses will be permitted through the intersection at Cumberland Street and Red River Road when it is safe to do so.
