Tilbury AutoShine will be closed from Saturday July 18th and re-open Monday July 27th while I am away in Seattle, WA for the 24th Annual Air Force One Restoration Project to help preserve historic and prestigious aircraft.
Of these aircraft most notably is the original Air Force One, a specially built Boeing 707-153 known as SAM (Special Air Missions) delivered in 1959 and was the first jet powered presidential aircraft which served presidents Kennedy, Nixon, Eisenhower and Johnson and now sits on display at the museum.
Other notable aircraft that will be preserved by the team include the museum’s B-29 Super Fortress known as T-Square 54 (one of 22 left in the world) which fought in the Pacific during WW2 flying at least 37 combat missions. It was two B-29’s that dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan helping to end World War 2.
