Yesterday, members of the Tillsonburg Firefighters Association were proud to be out in our community collecting donations for Muscular Dystrophy Canada during our annual Boot Drive.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a kind word, and made a donation. Your generosity and support continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy.

A special thank you goes to the local businesses that welcomed our firefighters and provided locations for us to connect with the community. Your partnership and support help make events like this possible.

Tillsonburg has always been a community that comes together to help others, and yesterday was another wonderful example of that spirit in action. We are grateful to call this community home and proud to support a cause that has such a long-standing connection to the fire service.

This week, the Tillsonburg Fire Department was proud to host our very first sensory-friendly event at the fire hall and what a success it was!

We were thrilled to welcome families for a full hour of calm, hands-on fun in a relaxed environment designed to be inclusive and comfortable for everyone. Seeing children explore the trucks, equipment, and fire hall at their own pace was truly special.

A big thank you to Oxford County Paramedic Services and the OPP for joining us and helping make the evening so meaningful for our community.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to Rain or Shine Play Centre for generously lending us textile sensory items for our quiet room, and to Salvation Army Tillsonburg for partnering with us and providing additional sensory items to help create a safe and calming space for families to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a positive experience. We look forward to hosting more inclusive community events in the future!

Stay tuned for a special prize draw announcemen!

Happy World Turtle Day! 🐢

Turtles are a true staple of our town here in Tillsonburg and an important part of the community we call home. Today we celebrate these amazing animals and the special place they hold in our community.

As turtle season begins, remember to slow down and stay alert near ponds, wetlands, and rural roads to help keep both wildlife and our community safe. 🚒

Found this original 1970s "product of combustion detector" still installed during a call today. At this point it’s officially in its ‘smoke alarm era’ ...hanging on longer than most trends and somehow still existing before Taylor Swift was even born. 😅

Jokes aside, it’s a good reminder that smoke alarms don’t last forever. Most should be replaced every 10 years to make sure they’ll actually work when you need them. Always follow manufacturer guidelines when replacing or installing smoke alarms.

🚒📚 During Community Helper Week, members of the Tillsonburg Fire Department had the opportunity to visit Southridge Public School and spend time with some amazing students!

We talked about what it means to be community helpers, the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe, and some of the tools and equipment we use every day. Students also learned valuable safety tips, the importance of smoke alarms, and ways they can help keep themselves and their families safe at home.

Our co-op student also joined us and helped demonstrate the firefighting gear we wear on calls, giving students a closer look at the equipment that helps protect firefighters while we work.

Thank you to the staff and students for welcoming us into your school. We always enjoy connecting with our community and inspiring the next generation of helpers! ❤️🚒

As the Victoria Day long weekend comes to a close, the Tillsonburg Fire Department would like to thank our beautiful community for making it a safe and enjoyable weekend.

We hope everyone had the opportunity to relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy everything this long weekend has to offer. As many head home and prepare for the week ahead, please continue to travel safely, check extinguished campfires one last time, and ensure fireworks debris is properly cleaned up and disposed of.

Thank you to our firefighters, dispatchers, and all emergency services personnel who remained ready to respond throughout the weekend.

From all of us at the Tillsonburg Fire Department, thank you for helping keep our community safe. We hope everyone had a fantastic May long weekend and arrived home safely. 🚒🇨🇦

Today is World Hypertension Day

Today is an important reminder to take care of your heart health and know your numbers.

High blood pressure, often called the “silent killer,” can lead to serious health issues such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems, often without noticeable symptoms. Regular checkups, staying active, eating healthy, reducing stress, and limiting sodium intake can all help lower your risk.

As first responders, we see firsthand how important preventative health can be not just for emergencies, but for everyday wellness.

Take a moment today to check in on yourself and your loved ones. A simple blood pressure check could make a lifesaving difference.

❤️ Stay healthy. Stay informed. Stay safe.
