The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario. We are a community-based environmental agency dedicated to protecting, restoring and managing the natural resources within the Long Point Region watershed. Speak with LPRCA about ways you can protect water, soil and habitats. We deliver programs in:
-flood forecasting & warning
-erosion control
-

improving water quality
-outdoor recreation and education
-forest management and tree planting
-watershed planning

LPRCA operates 5 conservation areas providing opportunities for camping, canoeing, fishing, swimming, picnicking and special events. Step into nature and plan a visit to Backus Heritage, Deer Creek, Haldimand, Norfolk or Waterford North Conservation Areas.

We have some very exciting news 🦆 The Conservation Education Centre has a brand-new addition to its lower level... the Davidson Decoy Gallery! This gallery honors the region’s waterfowling history by showcasing the work of prominent decoy carvers from Long Point region and beyond, with a focus on carvers from the late 1800s to the mid-1900s.

We invite you to come out on the opening day, Saturday, June 6 from 11am - 4pm to explore this addition. It's really something special! If you can't make it, that's okay, the gallery will be open Wednesday-Sunday until September 6 and then September 18 - October 10, Friday-Saturday!

The Backhouse Historic Site located in Backus Heritage CA is officially open! Come join us for interpretive programming Wednesday - Sunday, 11:00 - 4:00! Immerse yourself in the past with hands-on activities and period demonstrations.

Today is , with this year's theme being "acting locally for global impact". What you do locally may not seem like it will impact beyond your neighbourhood... but just like in a watershed, what you do upstream affects conditions downstream.

So, take this as your sign to plant those trees, plant those cover crops, recycle, pick up that litter, clean your shoes after a hike, slow down for turtles, and make healthy environmental decisions! Help biodiversity thrive!

The LPRCA admin office will be closed Monday, May 18 for Victoria Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, May 19 at 8:30 am.

This past weekend we had our annual tree planting morning with the Scouts of Port Dover 🌲Staff taught the Scouts how to properly plant a tree and why it's important to do so. We even met a little friend along the way 🐍 These hard working kids planted 1,100!! We look forward to this tradition every year 😀

Emergency Preparedness Week (May 3-9, 2026) encourages people in Canada to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their household during emergencies.

These pictures show a flood event that happened in Port Dover in 1985. LPRCA is responsible for regulating development in natural hazard areas in order to protect people, property and the environment from damage due to flooding and erosion.
