The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario. We are a community-based environmental agency dedicated to protecting, restoring and managing the natural resources within the Long Point Region watershed. Speak with LPRCA about ways you can protect water, soil and habitats. We deliver programs in:

Today is , with this year's theme being "acting locally for global impact". What you do locally may not seem like it will impact beyond your neighbourhood... but just like in a watershed, what you do upstream affects conditions downstream.

So, take this as your sign to plant those trees, plant those cover crops, recycle, pick up that litter, clean your shoes after a hike, slow down for turtles, and make healthy environmental decisions! Help biodiversity thrive!

This past weekend we had our annual tree planting morning with the Scouts of Port Dover 🌲Staff taught the Scouts how to properly plant a tree and why it's important to do so. We even met a little friend along the way 🐍 These hard working kids planted 1,100!! We look forward to this tradition every year 😀

Emergency Preparedness Week (May 3-9, 2026) encourages people in Canada to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their household during emergencies.

These pictures show a flood event that happened in Port Dover in 1985. LPRCA is responsible for regulating development in natural hazard areas in order to protect people, property and the environment from damage due to flooding and erosion. Become a seasonal camper with LPRCA this summer! We have seasonal sites available at:

Backus Heritage CA (Port Rowan, ON) - This park is home to the Conservation Education Centre, the new Davidson Decoy Gallery (opening June 6, 2026), the Backhouse Historic Site, the 1798 Backhouse Grist Mill and beautiful scenery!

Haldimand CA (Nanticoke, ON) - This park is situated along the shore of Lake Erie and offers a quiet place for campers to enjoy the outdoors and watch the birds! It's minutes from Selkirk and the Lake Erie Cycle Route.

Norfolk CA (Simcoe, ON) - This parks sits atop Lake Erie's bluffs offering incredible views of the lake. If you like to spend your summers at the beach, this will be the spot for you.

LPRCA and the Lee Brown Management Committee are awarding $1,000 to one graduating high school student who is graduating from high school and pursuing a degree in an environmental or natural resources field at a post-secondary level. Get those applications in before 11:59 pm on July 3, 2026!

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed their support for the Backhouse Grist Mill throughout the Next Great Save competition. We are excited to announce that we placed third and will be receiving the prize of $5,000 to be used towards the Mill's restoration efforts! This couldn't of been done without all of the support from you. Thank you.
