Community Living Timmins Intégration Communautaire provides services and supports to over 150 individuals with an intellectual disability and their families, throughout Timmins. Founded in 1955 by a group of parents concerned with the lack of services available locally, their first endeavour was to establish a school for children. Since then, Community Living Timmins Intégration Communautaire has

grown to provide a variety of services and supports including:

Five group homes, which strive to accommodate the variety of individual needs presented by the people who live there. Supported Independent Living, supporting people to live on their own in the community. Vic Mahoney Centre (VMC) Day Program, a place where people can experience a variety of options and learn new skills. Supported Employment Services, helping people to find jobs in the community. Integrated Day Care, assisting preschool children to learn and interact with others. Advocacy Support, for people who occasionally need a helping hand. Foundations Program for Transitional Aged Youth, support individuals’ transition from school to meaningful adult life in the community. We are a non-profit, charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our services are subsidized by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Community and Social Services, the Ministry of Housing and the District Social Services Administration Board

Other sources of revenue include donations and Nevada and Bingo Fundraising. We are a Cochrane-Timiskaming United Way Member Agency. Community Living Timmins employs over 100 full-time, part-time and casual staff. Our projected operating budget this year will be approximately 3.5 million. Over half of our employees have been with us for over 10 years. Community Living Timmins is affiliated with Community Living Ontario and its membership of over 100 local Community Living organizations, and with the Canadian Association for Community Living.

It was a meaningful evening at Queen’s Park as Community Living Ontario attended the introduction of MPP Billy Pang’s proposed Developmental Disabilities Awareness Week Act.

We were glad to be present for this important moment and to support continued awareness of the experiences of people who have developmental disabilities, their families, caregivers, and the broader developmental services sector.

Moments like this help bring community voices closer to the decision-making process.

Mayor Michelle Boileau has officially proclaimed May as Community Living Month in the City of Timmins. This month recognizes the important contributions of people with intellectual disabilities and celebrates the value of inclusion, belonging, and community for all.

Thank you to Community Living Timmins for the work you do every day to support and empower individuals and families throughout our community.

Residents are encouraged to take part in Community Living Month by lighting up their homes in blue or green in support.
