The Alzheimer Society of Cochrane - Temiskaming District exists to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer Disease and related disorders and to promote research. We are a not for profit organization dedicated to helping people affected by Alzheimer Disease. We strive to improve the quality of life for those affected by Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia. The Alzheimer Soc

iety of Cochrane - Temiskaming District was founded by a group of family caregivers in 1988 under the leadership of Monica Bevil. It is a non profit corporation and registered charity governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by membership at the Annual General Meeting held in June each year. The Society is operated and managed by a staff team of full- and part-time employees who are responsible for the design and implementation of family support and education services. The Society receives funding from the Ministry of Health, community donations and memorials. Research support dollars are raised through fundraising organized by the Society. No cost unless specified for programs. The Alzheimer Society of Cochrane - Temiskaming District Inc., through its affiliation with the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and the Alzheimer Society of Canada, maintains an active role in supporting the growth and development of the Alzheimer movement. Our dedicated Board, Staff and Volunteers work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. 🎬 REMINDER: Dementia Can’t Wait is happening tomorrow evening!

Join us tomorrow, August 27, at the O’Gorman High School Theatre in Timmins for a special screening of No More Silent Battles, a powerful documentary exploring the experiences of families navigating dementia home care.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Jenny Ingram, offering an opportunity to continue the important conversation around dementia care and the experiences of families and care partners.

The Alzheimer Society Cochrane-Temiskaming District is seeking a Behaviour Support Facilitator to join our team in the Timmins area.

This full-time position offers 35 hours per week and an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting individuals living with dementia and their care partners through evidence-informed behavioural support.

We’re looking for a compassionate, collaborative professional with a background in health and/or social sciences, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to person-centred care. Bilingualism in English and French is required.

We’re pleased to help spread the word about an upcoming community screening of No More Silent Battles Documentary, a documentary that follows the deeply personal journeys of four families as they navigate the challenges of the home care system while caring for someone living with dementia.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Jenny Ingram, a geriatric medicine specialist and longtime advocate for improving care and support for older adults and their families.
