The Cochrane District Social Planning Council’s mandate is to enhance and participate in social development in the larger context of community planning by:

a) Promoting community discussion on social and economic issues;
b) Gathering social demographic information that describes the quality of life for residents of the District,
c) Advocating for initiatives that improve the quality of life of

the residents of the District,
d) Facilitating and supporting community action initiatives intended to resolve issues that are impeding the quality of life of the residents,
e) Promoting awareness of social development issues to the residents of the District,
f) Undertake such other complimentary purposes not inconsistent with these objectives and approved by the membership,
g) Having a membership that the Board will be accountable to.
