Good evening everyone, here is an update on the minstik bird sanctuary wildfire. As of now we have the fire out, we worked all day putting out hot spots and ash pits. The area of the fire is dangerous as there are many trees hung up that could fall so please stay out of the area.

We got the call yesterday around 6pm. First on scene units found a large wildland fire. It took many resources to fight this fire, we had Station 1 (Tofield), Station 2 (Ryley), Station 3 (Holden), Station 5 (Viking) and Station 6 (kinsella), we also had support from Schmidt farms with a Dozer, Beaver County with mulchers, conservation officers, Beaver EMS for medical standby and Alberta Wildfire with 3 night vision helicopters. This fire took over 20hrs to fight, over 51000 gals (193 000 L) of water.
We want to thank all these people for their support and very hard work. We also want to thank Bucking Good Eats for working late in the night feeding these hungry firefighters, and to the mystery person who left us cookies in one of our units today (this sure put a smile on their faces).

Our fire crews are working hard to extinguish a fire at the Ministik Game Bird Sanctuary. The fire is currently 95% contained. No structures are threatened at this time. We will have a helicopter assisting us this evening so please don't be alarmed at the helicopter in the area.

This past weekend members from Tofield fire department and the Ryley fire department pushed through the tough weather to complete their skill requirements and practical examinations for their NFPA 1001 level 2 certification.

On Sunday your Tofield fire department was busy with the NFPA 1001 level 2 group working hard on developing their vehicle extrication skills. This year’s group consists of 5 members of your Tofield fire department and 2 members from the Ryley fire department.

Tofield Fire Department just finished up sending a third class through NFPA 1072 Hazmat awareness and operations levels.

It’s that time again for the TFD haunted house.
Oct 31 at the fire hall
This year we are doing it a little different:
5:30-600 pm -little monsters “not scary, lights on and no scare actors “
6:15-8:30 pm -regular haunted house
8:30-9:00 -total black out if you dare

We look forward in scaring you.

This weekend has been a very busy for us. TFD responded to two separate wildfires in the Ministik Lake Bird Sanctuary which required support from Station 2 (Ryley), station 3 (Holden), station 5 (Viking), Strathcona Fire, and Beaver County heavy equipment.

It is still very dry out and we would like to remind everyone please make sure you are fire smart while taking in the beautiful scenery.

We would also like to thank all the departments that responded and assisted us and our admin staff who arranged stuff for us and made sure we had food and drinks during the long hours.
