The murder of Toronto Police Service Constable Todd Baylis left an enduring impact on his family, colleagues, & the policing profession. More than three decades later, that loss continues to be felt.
As Canada continues to examine its parole system, the voices of victims & their families must remain at the centre of the process. The supports meaningful reforms that strengthen public confidence, recognize the enduring impact of violent crime on victims and their loved ones, & reinforce community safety as a fundamental consideration in parole decisions.
A justice system should be fair and balanced, but it must also ensure that victims are treated with dignity and respect, & that Canadians can have confidence that public safety remains a paramount consideration.
