Provide programs and services that make it possible for all marginalized and socially isolated people in our community to live a stable, quality life in a suitable home. NIP has providing effective services for low-income individuals and families in the local Downtown East Toronto community as well as in other parts of the city. NIP’s programs and services include:
• Toronto Rent Bank Program – P
roviding financial assistance to Toronto residents who are behind on their rent or need help with a rental deposit.;
• Energy Financial Assistance Programs including Toronto Hydro Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), Housing Assistance Program (HAP), Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP), Energy Emergency Fund (EEF) – Providing grants to low-income households in arrears on utilities;
• Voluntary Housing Trusteeship – Helping challenged individuals to manage their income and ensure that their rent and other bill payments are made on time;
• General Housing Help and Economic Stability Support – Connecting people with housing, rental application assistance, income tax clinics, etc.; and
• Community Support Services – Providing drop-in services (computer access, free phone, mail and message, and information and referral etc.), support for seniors and social inclusion programming, case management and counselling, form-filling, translation and interpretation, volunteer-supported community events; and other community supports.
