A new angiography system has arrived and will help expand access to specialized Interventional Radiology services at MGH!

This advanced imaging technology will support our growing Interventional Radiology program by helping physicians diagnose and treat conditions affecting the blood vessels, including blocked or narrowed arteries, aneurysms and other vascular conditions, through minimally invasive procedures.

By providing detailed, real-time images, the system helps physicians perform procedures with greater precision while offering many patients less invasive treatment options and access to specialized care closer to home.

This new Interventional Radiology suite was made possible through philanthropic support. ๐Ÿ’š

Meet Blaine, a Long Service Award recipient who is celebrating 15 years of service at MGH. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

โ€œI had just graduated from school as a medical laboratory technologist when a job came up at MGH and I was excited to take it,โ€ Blaine shares.

โ€œThere have been many opportunities for growth in my role. After a few years in this role, I became the Lab's preanalytical supervisor. Six years after that, I came into a slightly modified role. It was half as Lab supervisor and half part of the Operational Excellence Team.

โ€œAs part of that role, I worked on projects that were not strictly related to the Lab, like workplace violence prevention initiatives. Last year, I became the lab quality manager. Between all of that, Iโ€™ve also had personal growth with two maternity leaves.

โ€œAs my roles have changed, I have met more and more people outside of the lab. Over the years, I have thought about finding a job that is closer to where I live, but I like the atmosphere here and I like the people. The people really make it fun to work here.โ€

Thank you, Blaine, for your 15 years of service. ๐Ÿซถ

MGH's summer scholars took the stage last week at the 2026 Research Summer Scholar Showcase, presenting the projects they've worked on across the hospital.

Ten presentations covered a wide range of topics, from assessing wireless vital signs monitoring in the Stavro Emergency Department to a service evaluation for the Family Birthing Centre.

"Watching our Summer Scholars present is always a highlight of the season. They bring such curiosity and rigour to their projects across each area, and it reflects the culture of embedded science we're building at MGH," says Kristen Currie, Director, Research Operations and Business Development at MGH.

Thank you to this year's summer scholars, and to the supervisors and scientists who mentored them!
