Happy Healthcare Food Services Week! ⭐

We proudly celebrate and recognize our dedicated Food Services professionals for their vital contributions to MGH.

Our Food Services Team produces over 1,200 patient meals a day, 365 days a year, to meet the individual dietary and therapeutic needs of our patients. These daily accomplishments could not be done without this team’s high level of collaboration and dedication to the patient experience!

Our Mammography Technologists play an important role in breast cancer screening and diagnosis, using their expertise while supporting patients who may feel anxious or uncertain and helping them feel more comfortable about their appointment.

Mammography is about more than taking an image. It's an important tool for detecting breast cancer early and supporting your breast health.

Join us in celebrating Medical Device Reprocessing Week!

This week, we recognize the more than 40 dedicated members of our Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) whose expertise and commitment help keep our patients safe every day.

Every month, behind the scenes, this incredible team reprocesses over:

👉 150,000 instruments
👉 5,000 trays
👉 3,000 towels
👉 2,500 additional items

Their hard work ensures that equipment is cleaned, sterilized and ready for patient care across the hospital.

Youth Wellness Hubs provide free, low-barrier drop-in services and programs for youth aged 12-25, including mental health counselling, peer support, primary care, employment support and more.

October is ?

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in Canada. Screening such as mammography can help identify cancer before symptoms appear. It’s easier than ever to book a mammogram.

Women, trans and non-binary people in Ontario can now get a mammogram through OHIP starting at the age of 40 instead of 50! This screening can be done every two years until the age of 74.

At MGH, we’ve expanded our Mammography Program’s hours of operation to offer appointments on some evenings and weekends.

“There have been so many memorable moments throughout my time at MGH, from sharing conversations and laughter with patients to building meaningful connections with my colleagues.

“One moment that stands out was when our team came together to celebrate an important milestone for a patient during their hospital stay. Seeing the joy on the patient's face and watching everyone work together with such compassion reminded me that nursing is about so much more than clinical care.

“Moments like that reinforce how meaningful even the smallest acts of kindness can be. They continue to inspire me and remind me why I chose a career in nursing. I'm excited to create many more memories as I continue my journey at MGH.”

tells the stories of our people. Meet Aaron Di Nardo, Manager of Information Technology Services (ITS) at MGH.

“When people hear ‘IT,’ they often picture one broad umbrella, but there are several distinct teams working together under it to keep things running smoothly,” says Aaron.

“Our commitment is to ensure MGH staff have the technology and support they need to care for our patients and community.

“At one point, I thought I was going to become an entomologist! I suppose it’s fitting that now, as an ITS manager, part of the job is to work out the ‘bugs’ in our systems.”
