The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is guided by the far-seeing mandate it was given in 1963 – to foster the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians. OAC offers more than fifty funding programs for Ontario-based artists and arts organizations, with funds from the Ontario government. Grants provide assistance for a specific activity, support for a period of time, or for ongoing o

perations. OAC also offers awards, prizes and scholarships from private funds managed by the Ontario Arts Foundation. The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) was established in 1963 to foster the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians.

Our offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026. We hope you spend the long weekend recharging, creating, mending, making, or finding inspiration for your next project.

Last week, Barbara Gilbert, OAC's Program Officer for Media Arts, visited the Near North Makerspace in downtown North Bay. It was inspiring to see this warm and welcoming creative hub, where artists, makers, and community members can build, create and connect. Through access to tools, studio space, skill sharing, and community collaboration, the Makerspace is helping make creativity more accessible across the Nipissing District.

La semaine dernière, Barbara Gilbert, responsable de programmes des arts médiatiques au CAO, a visité le Near North Makerspace au centre-ville de North Bay. C’était inspirant de découvrir ce lieu créatif chaleureux et accueillant, où artistes, créateurs et membres de la communauté peuvent bâtir, créer et tisser des liens. Grâce à l’accès à des outils et à des espaces de travail, au partage de compétences et à la collaboration communautaire, le Makerspace contribue à rendre la créativité plus accessible dans le district de Nipissing.

The deadline to apply for the Catalyst and Transformation (CAT) Fund is coming up this Friday, August 28 at 5pm ET.

The CAT Fund provides financial support to Ontario non-profit arts organizations to explore substantive change in their operations. Project grants of up to $15,000 are available to explore new operational directions and significant changes like rebuilding, restructuring, or reforming the way the organization works and operates.

The Curatorial Projects: Indigenous and Culturally Diverse program supports Ontario-based Indigenous curators and curators who are people of colour in presenting exhibitions, publications, arts education and outreach activities, as well as mentorship opportunities.
Applications are submitted jointly by an Ontario-based curator and an Ontario public gallery, artist-run centre, or other not-for-profit arts presenter, with either partner serving as the lead applicant.
