Roshanak is a singer-songwriter based in Toronto. On November 12, she’s one of three autistic panelists asking Jully Black the questions, alongside Robbie Tanco and Rick Peckham. Jully won’t see or hear the questions until they're asked live on stage.

Toronto comedian Nigel Downer opens the night with live improv. Unscripted: An Evening with Jully Black is at the Sheraton Centre Toronto. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a cash bar and an artisan market featuring autistic artists and makers, and the show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $50 all-in.

Meet two of the speech-language professionals on our team!

On the right is Milana Chengelia, a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who has been with Geneva Centre since August 2025. She’s holding an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device running one of the apps we use with clients who communicate with AAC.

On the left is Lois Guidote, our Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA), who joined us in September. Lois brings experience from her years as an SLP in the Philippines. She’s holding two of our favourite tools:
🎁 A jack-in-the-box, which our early language learners love during child-led play
👄 A mouth model, which shows kids where to place their tongue and lips as they learn specific sounds

Every tool has a purpose, and every voice matters. We’re so glad to have Milana and Lois on our team!

Our Employment team was proud to attend the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) conference last week! 💼

Courtney Neheli and Charleen Zozzolotto from our Community Options and Employment department spent the day connecting with employers, community partners and advocates who are working toward more inclusive workplaces.

The conversations about accessibility, inclusive hiring and meaningful employment for people with disabilities will help shape how we support the autistic job seekers we work with.

October is AAC Awareness Month!

AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It covers all the ways people communicate besides spoken words, or alongside them. That could be a speech-generating device, a tablet app, a picture board, sign language, gestures or writing. Some people use AAC all the time. Others use it part-time, like when they're tired, overwhelmed or somewhere new.

AAC isn't a last resort, and nobody needs to be "ready" for it. Everyone has the right to communicate in the way that works best for them. When we make room for every kind of communication, we build communities where everyone can be heard.

Our Essential Skills program had a special visitor! 🦷✨

Keerthika, founder of [Smiletude / ], spent the morning with our kids teaching them about oral hygiene. Through hands-on activities and interactive lessons, they practiced healthy brushing habits and learned how to keep their teeth clean and strong.

Smiletude is Keerthika’s initiative to help children build positive attitudes toward oral health. She has a special focus on making dental care fun, accessible, and comfortable for children on the autism spectrum.
