Ben-Gurion University Canada BGU Canada is the Canadian fundraising arm of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

We support the vision of Israelโ€™s 1st Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, who said โ€œIt is in the Negev that the creativity and pioneer vigour of Israel shall be tested.โ€ Canadian Associates of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (CABGU) plays a vital role in sustaining David Ben-Gurion's vision of creating a world-class institution of education and research in the Israeli desert, nurturing the Negev community and sharing the University's expertise locally and around the globe.

What a way to end the week. ๐Ÿ’™

471 days in Hamas captivity. Last night, Emily Damari married Danielle "Dani" Amit in Tel Aviv, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow former hostages who know exactly what she survived to get here.

Many of us in Toronto had the honor of hearing Emily speak in person at last year's BGU Strong Gala, sharing her story of resilience with our community.

Inside the student fund backing tomorrow's entrepreneurs ๐ŸŒต

Some entered in their twenties. They're deciding which startups get funded.

At Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Cactus Capital and Cactus Academy train students as startup analysts, then put them inside the fund to evaluate real ventures and help decide who gets backed. Top performers rise into leadership roles.

Chaired by investor Prof. Carmel Sofer, the fund has backed 35 startups, with 14 securing follow-on investment. About 200 student ventures apply each year.

Today, August 21, marks the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.

We stand with the BGU community, Israel and Canadian families of victims of October 7 to remember innocent Canadians murdered by terrorists around the world, including the eight Israeli-Canadians murdered on October 7: Judih Weinstein, Adi Vital-Kaploun, Vivian Silver, Ben Mizrachi, Alexandre Look, Tiferet Lapidot, Shir Georgy, and Netta Epstein.

Eliya Cohen was taken hostage from the Nova Music Festival on October 7th and held by Hamas for 505 days.
His fiancรฉe, Ziv Abud, was at Nova too. He didnโ€™t know she was alive until he came home.
