Celebrating The Kiki Ballroom Alliance (TKBA) TKBA and the incredible community they’ve built over the last 15 years.🏳️‍🌈💛

Founded in 2010 by Icon Twysted Miyake-Mugler and Legendary Mother Vixen 007, TKBA has become a cornerstone of Canada’s Ballroom scene. Through balls, workshops, mentorship, and advocacy, they’ve created spaces where racialized LGBTQIA+ youth can findconnection, express themselves freely, and access support while addressing issues like homelessness, food insecurity, mental health,discrimination, and HIV/AIDS awareness.

Ballroom has always been rooted in resistance, resilience, and chosenfamily and TKBA continues that legacy by empowering people to takeup space exactly as they are.✨

As we celebrate Pride Month, we’re shining a light on the artists andorganizations building spaces of love, joy, advocacy, and community. 🌈

Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting creatives and changemakers whose work uplifts and supports 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across Toronto.

Our first Pride Month highlight is Multicultural Pride in Scarborough, whose work reminds us of the power of showing up as our full selves and finding strength in one another.

“Pride is a Special Time to be who you are as an individual and love yourself first before you love some. It’s also a time to celebrate yourself and culture, identity and Gender without Hate/Discrimination Pride is also a time tocome together as a community with friends, family and straight allies and chosen family by your side to build a stronger 💪 community no one shouldbe left alone Community is strength and pure love 💕” - Rainbow Hunt

As a grassroots organization, MPIS provides accessible art programming ,resources, and community support for 2SQTBIPOC youth with disabilities and mental health challenges. Their work amplifies marginalized voices, fosters belonging, and creates transformative opportunities for young people through creativity and connection.

Throughout June, we’ll be shining the spotlight on 2SLGBTQIA+ artistsand arts organizations whose work inspires connection, sparksimportant conversations, and reminds us of the power of art as a toolfor joy, resistance, and change.

For many Pride is a celebration, but it began as a protest. With deeproots in advocacy and the pursuit of equity, Pride is not justan opportunity to recognize and applaud the ongoing work ofq***r communities, but it’s also a powerful reminder of what still needsto be done to ensure that our city is one where everyone feels free tolive their lives fiercely, authentically, and safely.

Bring bold literary ideas to life across Toronto’s communities ✍🏽📚

The Literary Projects program supports Toronto-based organizations and collectives creating impactful literary experiences—from spoken word events and reading series to festivals, conferences, workshops, and magazine publishing.

This grant supports one-time or time-limited projects that contribute to the growth of literary arts in Toronto, including production, presentation, professional development, and independent magazine publishing. Funding can go toward artist fees (required), production and technical costs, marketing, documentation, and more. Digital projects are also eligible.

💰 Up to $8,000 available (projects must include additional revenue sources)
🗓 Deadline: August 4, 2026
📍 Projects must take place in Toronto
👥 Open to non-profit organizations and collectives

Bring your community together through art 🎨🙌🏽💛

The Creative Communities Projects program supports Toronto-based artists, collectives, and non-profit organizations to lead collaborative arts projects that publicly engage communities with arts and culture in meaningful ways.

Projects can include one or more arts practices music, dance, theatre, visual arts, storytelling and more—and must involve collaboration between professional artists and community members, with a focus on participation, skill-building, and public engagement.

This program supports:
✨ Arts engagement projects that encourage community participation
✨ Arts community development that builds and strengthens artistic communities
✨ Increased access to arts experiences across Toronto

💰 Grants up to $15,000
📅 Deadline: August 4
📍 Projects must take place in Toronto

Celebrating Asian Heritage Month with Long Time No See Collective () ❤️

Long Time No See (LTNS) is a collective of artists and educators from different backgrounds and generations of Chinese settlers living on Turtle Island. Through storytelling, public art, workshops, and community engagement, they honour their ancestors by teaching the histories of Chinatown, uplifting stories that have been erased, and reflecting on their responsibilities to act in solidarity with Indigenous peoples.

One of LTNS’s ongoing community projects, “Chinatown, the Best!”, invited seniors in the Chinatown community to imagine what would make Chinatown a more vibrant and welcoming place to live and gather. Through weekly gatherings at community centres, seniors shared their experiences, hopes, skills, and visions for the future of Chinatown. Participants were also invited to reflect on the best version of themselves and be photographed. ( Slide 2)

As part of LTNS’s Longing Belonging, 100 Years 100 Stories exhibition programming, members of the Markham community took an art bus ride to Toronto Chinatown for the rare opportunity to visit one of the historic Family Associations and hear about its history from Leo Chan. (Slide 3))

For May 5, 2026, LTNS partnered with Chinatown Land Trust, Thank-you Chinatown, and community volunteers to create a series of posters featuring community members wearing red dresses in honour of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S+). (Slide 4)
