At Toronto Arts Council and Foundation, we don’t just support artists, we are artists. 🎨🎶

Our latest Collective Canvas feature celebrates the work of our very own Senior Office Coordinator, Georgia Champagnie (Georgia peach) ✨

Georgia is a graphic designer, illustrator, painter, and community arts facilitator whose creativity is deeply rooted in family, memory and connection.

Her Sunday Morning series features six illustrations inspired by her childhood and the songs her mom would play on Sunday mornings.☀️ One of the highlights of the second collection is a special piece dedicated to her late father, who was also an artist and helped inspire Georgia’s own artistic journey.

Collective Canvas transforms our lunchroom into a gallery where staff can share their creativity and get to know each other more through art.🫶🏽

We’re so happy to have Georgia’s beautiful work filling our walls for the next few months! 🖼️👏🏽

Our 2025 Annual Report is here!✨🎉

Together, Toronto Arts Council and Toronto Arts Foundation continued to support artists, strengthen the arts sector, and connect communities all across the city. From funding artists and arts organizations to bringing free arts programming into communities, celebrating artistic achievement, and creating opportunities for emerging creatives, 2025 was a year of growth and impact.

Happy International Youth Day! 🎨✨💛

Today, Toronto Arts celebrates the creativity, voices, ideas, and impact of young people across our city.

From visual arts and film to music, dance, theatre, storytelling, and beyond, young people are bringing fresh perspectives to Toronto’s arts community and helping shape its future. 🌟

Access to the arts gives youth opportunities to express themselves, build confidence, develop new skills, connect with community, and explore pathways toward creative careers.

We’re proud to support spaces and opportunities where young people can create, train and learn from professionals, collaborate, and lead. Because when we invest in young artists, we invest in a more creative, connected, and vibrant Toronto. 🫶🏽

A new survey by Toronto Arts and the Environics Institute for Survey Research, in partnership with the Toronto Foundation, highlights the powerful role arts and culture play in strengthening social connection across Toronto. 🤝🏙️

The results are clear: residents engage with the arts in many ways, from attending performances and exhibitions to creative hobbies, cultural traditions , and arts education, and they overwhelmingly believe these activities make Toronto a better place to live.
Regular participation is also linked to greater feelings of belonging, stronger connections with family, friends, and community, and increased openness to different perspectives, reinforcing the vital role the arts play in building a more connected city.

📊 Findings include:
🎵 Two in three Torontonians (67%) attended a concert, a museum or gallery, an arts or culture festival, a theatre performance, or a literary event at least once in the past year.
💃 Seven in ten (69%) Torontonians frequently or occasionally use music or dance to learn more about or stay more in touch with their cultural heritage.
🎨 A large majority of parents with children at home (83%) say that their children have participated in music, arts, crafts, writing, theatre, or dance activities at school or outside of school in the past year.
📣 Partnering on research and sharing what we know is a key part of our strategic goal to make the case for the arts.

Bring your music to life through the Music Creation & Audio Recording grant! 🎶

The Music Creation & Audio Recording grant supports Toronto-based artists in writing, producing, and recording original music across all genres. Whether you’re developing new compositions or stepping into the studio, this program helps turn your ideas into fully realized work.

You can apply in one of three categories:
✨ Creation (up to $10,000)
✨ Recording – Demo/EP (up to $8,000)
✨ Recording – Full-Length (up to $15,000)

From composition to production, this funding supports key stages of your creative process, including artist fees, recording, mixing, and more.

‼️Gentle reminder! Music videos and live shows are not eligible for funding through this program!

Bring your next theatre project to life 🎭 Apply by August 4th!

The Theatre Projects grant supports Toronto-based non-profit organizations and collectives to create, produce, and present theatre works—from full productions to workshops and special initiatives that strengthen and grow the city’s theatre landscape.

Funding is available across four categories:
• Full Production – up to $20,000 for fully realized works
• Production in a Festival – up to $10,000 for works presented in established festivals
• Workshop – up to $15,000 to develop new work (must include a reading or presentation)
• Special Initiatives – up to $15,000 for projects that advance theatre practice (festivals, conferences, community opportunities, and more)

Projects and funding can support key expenses like artist fees (required), production + technical costs, marketing, admin, and childcare.

Open to Toronto-based non-profit organizations and collectives, this program is designed to invest in bold ideas, new voices, and the continued development of professional theatre in the city.

Fund your next exhibition or screening into a public experience 🎥🖼️

The Visual and Media Arts Projects: Presentation program supports organizations, collectives, curators, and programmers in sharing bold, contemporary visual and media arts with audiences across Toronto. From exhibitions and screening series to lectures, residencies, and workshops, this grant helps bring thoughtfully curated projects into the public sphere.

With up to $15,000 in funding available, this program supports one-time or time-limited projects that centre strong curatorial or critical frameworks and meaningful audience engagement. Projects must take place in Toronto (or be created here and shared online) and include a clear audience development plan.

Funding can support artist fees (required), production and technical costs, marketing and outreach, admin support, and more. Applicants must also show a range of revenue sources, as this program does not fund 100% of project costs.

📅 Deadline: August 4
Open to non-profit organizations, collectives, and independent curators/programmers based in Toronto. Projects must be led by professional artists and contribute to the development of the city’s visual and media arts landscape.

The Literary Projects Program deadline is August 4th! Bring bold literary ideas to life across Toronto’s communities ✍🏽📚

The Literary Projects program supports Toronto-based organizations and collectives creating impactful literary experiences—from spoken word events and reading series to festivals, conferences, workshops, and magazine publishing.

This grant supports one-time or time-limited projects that contribute to the growth of literary arts in Toronto, including production, presentation, professional development, and independent magazine publishing. Funding can go toward artist fees (required), production and technical costs, marketing, documentation, and more. Digital projects are also eligible.

💰 Up to $8,000 available (projects must include additional revenue sources)
🗓 Deadline: August 4, 2026
📍 Projects must take place in Toronto
👥 Open to non-profit organizations and collectives
