TIME OUT @ Vaughan Road Gym Night
Who Do You Need To Forgive
Vaughan Road Gym Night
There was a situation last week that has prompted tonight’s timeout
Situation happened (situations happen, it is nothing new, situations will happen)
One person did the right thing - went over to the other and offered his had but the other did not accept
That was an indication of unforgiveness (I spoke to the person afterwards and he admitted his fault and apologized to me - he still needs to apologize, forgive the other person)
Who do you need to forgive?
Something different tonight - I going to ask you to pray with me (out loud, if you can)
The Lord’s prayer (if you don’t know it, you can repeat after me)
How many actually pray this prayer (often, occasionally, once in a while)
It is the actual prayer that Jesus taught his disciples
Matthew 6:12-14
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil [one.]
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
ASV
“This, then, is how you should pray:“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
How many of you pray?
Listen to what Isaiah says
Isaiah 59:2
2 but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, so that he will not hear.
ASV
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separatedyou from your God;your sins have hidden his face from you,so that he will not hear.
A grudge is like an untreated wound. You just leave it to fester, it becomes infected, makes you sick and could even cost you a limb or worse yet, your life.
When you forgive someone who has wronged you are doing something for yourself. You are releasing youself of the prison of unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment to be free to live with joy and peace of mind
When you forgive, you are also opening the communication lines between you and God so that he hears you when you pray and and he forgives you when you ask him for forgiveness
Who who do you have to forgive today?
