Ontario is making history by securing 640 megawatts of new clean electricity capacity through the Second Long-Term Request for Proposals (LT2), enough to power up to 640,000 homes.

The new capacity resources will ensure direct economic benefits to local communities with at least 50% First Nations equity ownership, building a resilient, self-reliant economy, supporting jobs and energy security across Ontario for decades to come.

Actinium-225 is one of the rarest medical isotopes on earth, with the entire annual global supply smaller than a grain of sand.

Ontario’s makes it one of the few places that can make this essential isotope. At Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ Chalk River Laboratories, Actinium-225 is produced in small research quantities from thorium as it decays, then shipped worldwide for cutting-edge cancer treatments that save lives.

From Ontario’s critical minerals list to your beach bag, titanium plays a quiet but vital role in helping you stay sun safe this summer. 🌊☀️

Titanium is found in minerals such as ilmenite, anatase and rutile. Once extracted, titanium is often processed into titanium dioxide, a bright white compound with an important everyday use: sunscreen. The bright white pigment reflects ultraviolet (UV) rays and is effective at blocking UVB rays.
