🚔🏍️ THEY KEEP US MOVING. THEY KEEP US SAFE. 💙

There are many people behind the scenes who make the Canada 911 Ride possible, but few have a more important responsibility than our police es**rt officers.

Throughout the weekend, they safely guide approximately 175 motorcycles and support vehicles along our route, managing intersections, traffic and changing road conditions while protecting our riders and the communities we travel through.

It is demanding work that requires skill, teamwork, professionalism and constant attention. While our riders may not always see everything happening at the front, back and alongside the Ride, our police es**rts are always there, helping ensure everyone gets where they need to go safely.

We are especially grateful to the officers who joined us from the Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Police Service - Motor Squad, Peel Regional Police, York Regional Police and the in New Brunswick. Your support, professionalism and commitment mean a great deal to our Foundation and to everyone who takes part in the Ride.

To every officer who rode with us this year, thank you. Thank you for the long hours, the dedication and the responsibility you take on to make this weekend possible.

We trust you with the safety of our Ride, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

The OPP Golden Helmets are making their way across the North West Region, stopping in communities along the route 🏍️

These visits are an opportunity to connect with officers while showcasing the professionalism and pride of the OPP's motorcycle precision team.

The Golden Helmets will be visiting Thunder Bay, Sioux Lookout, Dryden, Kenora, and Fort Frances. Admission is FREE to each performance and the Kenora Meet & Greet, however donations are welcome to support local school lunch programs.

Ces visites sont l’occasion d’échanger avec les agents tout en mettant en avant le professionnalisme et la fierté de l’équipe de moto de précision de l’OPP.

Last night, the Canada 911 Ride Foundation held its 21st Annual Banquet—a powerful evening of remembrance, respect and gratitude.

Together, we honoured the memories of seven Canadian first responders who died in the line of duty in 2026:

From **Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23**, the Canada 911 Ride Foundation Ontario Ride will travel through communities across Southern Ontario in support of Canada’s emergency first responders and their families, while honouring first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Durham Regional Police Service is profoundly saddened by the tragic death of Constable in Training (CIT) Tyrone Magbitang, 27, who was involved in a motor vehicle collision while travelling to the Ontario Police College on July 7, 2026.

CIT Magbitang joined the Durham Regional Police Service as a Special Constable in May 2023. In April of this year, he took the next step toward achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer when he was selected as a police constable recruit.

Tyrone was a compassionate, dedicated, and service-driven individual who believed deeply in helping others and making a positive difference in the community. Following his Police Foundations education, he pursued a career in public safety with determination, humility, and an unwavering commitment to serving those around him.

Although his time with our Service was far too short, Tyrone made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. He will be remembered for his kindness, professionalism, and the tremendous potential he brought to our organization. His loss is deeply felt throughout the Durham Regional Police Service and the wider policing community.

Today, CIT Magbitang will be transported from London, Ontario, to the Centre for Forensic Sciences (CFS) in Toronto. Loved ones and members of the Durham Regional Police Service will accompany him as a mark of respect and in recognition of his service and commitment to the profession he aspired to join.

On behalf of the Durham Regional Police Service, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Tyrone’s family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. We mourn alongside them and remain committed to supporting all those affected by this unimaginable loss.

We respectfully ask that the privacy of Tyrone’s family and those mourning his loss be honoured during this difficult time.
