A private funeral service for OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre. The service will not be open to the public.

For all who wish to join us in honouring Sergeant Malcolm’s life, details on a livestream of the funeral service will be made available closer to the service date.

Expressions of condolence may be shared at opp.ca/news. A book of condolences is also available at the Northumberland OPP (Brighton) Detachment for anyone wishing to express their sorrow in person. For anyone who wishes to send flowers, they can be sent to the Cobourg Community Centre, 750 D’Arcy Street, Cobourg, Ontario.

OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm joined the OPP in June 2020 and served his entire career with the Northumberland Detachment. The 33-year-old was an accomplished and proud member of the OPP Golden Helmets. He was highly respected and trusted as a leader who fostered a supportive environment. His quiet confidence, professionalism and strong work ethic made him an integral part of the OPP.

Funeral arrangements are still in the early stages. More information will be released as it becomes available.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que je confirme à mon grand regret que le sergent Brandon Malcolm, de la Police provinciale de l’Ontario (Police provinciale), a été tué dans l'exercice de son devoir ce soir sur l'autoroute 401, à Cobourg. Nous rendons hommage à son dévouement et à son courage, tout en pleurant cette perte immense. Nous adressons nos plus sincères condoléances et partageons la douleur de ses proches et de ses collègues de la Police provinciale dans toute la province.
