UJPO / Winchevsky Centre The Winchevsky Centre is home to the United Jewish People’s Order, the Morris Winchevsky Shule (School), & Camp Naivelt. Visit us at www.winchevskycentre.org

We are a community of secular Jews that centres social justice in our collective work. Our mosaic of institutions - the United Jewish People's Order, Toronto's Morrs Winchevsky School, Camp Naivelt and the Toronto Jewish Folk Choir - are guided by a celebration of secular Jewishness and Yiddishkayt, anti-racism and social justice principles, a respect for other cultures and a progressive outlook on world issues. It is this philosophy that has kept our institutions an enduring and vital part of Toronto's Jewish scene since the 1920's, and we are proud to continue to offer a home, a community and a voice for Toronto's progressive, secular humanistic Jews. Our roots are connected to the labour history and worker consciousness inherited from the 1920's and 1930's, the internationalism of the 1940's and 1950's, the civil rights and peace movements of the 1960's, and the women's movement of the 1970's. Our survival and strength is a testament to the enduring sense of community rooted in the Eastern European immigrant experience of poverty, oppression, struggle and protest.

Both authors will be signing books at the event. The evening will open with a community-led Shabbos ritual, as practiced at the Peoples’ Circle for Palestine.

Molly Crabapple is an artist and writer whose inspirations include Toulouse Lautrec, Diego Rivera and Goya’s ‘The Disasters of War.’ She is the author of the NY Times bestseller,“Here Where We Live is Our Country: The Story of the Jewish Bund,” which was released by One World/Random House in April 2026.

Jason Stanley is a writer, professor and philosopher. He is the author of seven books and dozens of scholarly articles in multiple disciplines. Stanley is currently the Bissell-Heyd-Associates Chair, American Studies, Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy.

Accessible Seating: Out of 488 total seats, the theatre features 8 dedicated accessible chairs.

Main Entrance & Elevators: The venue is equipped with a main floor elevator and ramps to allow smooth movement through the building.

There is one fully accessible, gender-neutral washroom located on the main floor. It features step-free access, a power button opener, lever handles, grab bars, and an emergency assist.

Quiet Space: A dedicated quiet space is located on the second floor for guests who need a sensory break during a performance or festival.
