The Learn and Uplift Foundation

The Learn and Uplift Foundation The Learn and Uplift Foundation, empowers underprivileged youth with relevant skills for a sustainable livelihood.

The Learn and Uplift Foundation (LAUF) provides e-learning programs that build capacity among disadvantaged youth. These programs are multidimensional ranging from employable skill building to promoting gender equality and respect. LAUF is a leader in preparing disadvantaged youth for better lives in the immediate future. LAUF is currently working on projects in India and Canada

India:

We supp

ort underprivileged youth through a range of customized online learning courses that support them with "ready-to-work" skills. Today, India has the world's largest youth population, with 356 million 10-24 year olds. The absence of a strong vocational training focus during the early years of development is already adversely impacting millions of youth in a nation that is poised to become the youngest country in the world by 2020. Over a 100 million of them are estimated to be living below the poverty line. We support underprivileged youth through a range of customized online learning courses that support them with "ready-to-work" skills. Canada:

The Learn and Uplift Foundation has begun an exciting new partnership with Hope 24/7 (a multi-service agency working with ‘at-risk’ populations). As part of their work with ‘at-risk’ populations, Hope 24/7 has developed a youth sexual violence prevention program called “Our Youth Our Future” (OYOF). This prevention program - based on the Ontario guidelines for Youth Wellbeing- gives youth accurate information and prevention skills around building healthy relationships. With LAUF’s expertise and leadership, the program will be expanded to include on-line delivery. The partnership between LAUF and Hope 24/7 will help ensure that MORE ‘at-risk’ youth are getting access to the sexual violence prevention program.

Mayo Clinic on the Importance of Drinking Water

What are the health benefits of water?

Water is your body's principal chemical component and makes up about 50% to 70% of your body weight. Your body depends on water to survive.

Every cell, tissue and organ in your body needs water to work properly. For example, water:

· Gets rid of wastes through urination, perspiration and bowel movements
· Keeps your temperature normal
· Lubricates and cushions joints
· Protects sensitive tissues
Lack of water can lead to dehydration — a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.

What about the advice to drink 8 glasses a day?

You've probably heard the advice to drink eight glasses of water a day. That's easy to remember, and it's a reasonable goal.

Fort Severn First Nation, Ontario's northern most fly-in community, has a Drinking Water Emergency. THERE IS NONE. Over the last few days, we have procured water at Thunder Bay and it has been airlifted to Fort Severn. We also received a donation of 72 4 ltr bottles from a Gurudwara (Sikh Temple) member at Thunder Bay. Those 72 bottles of water, cost Fort Severn another $2,000 to fly up.
100% of your net donation will be used to address the following:
Priority 1: Purchasing water at Thunder Bay;
Priority 2: Contributing to transportation costs by air;
Priority 3: Implementing a sustainable way of recycling the plastics that accumulate at FSFN.

Donate to HELP GET DRINKING WATER TO FORT SEVERN FIRST NATION by LAUF, and make a difference today. Support the causes you care about at CanadaHelps. Donating is easy and secure.
