📣 The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed annually on March 21st and serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against racial discrimination.

It is a call to action for individuals, communities, and governments to work towards the eradication of racism in all its forms.

It provides an opportunity to educate and promote understanding and respect among people of different races and ethnicities and to raise awareness about the importance of combating racial prejudice and discrimination on a global scale. 🌍 ✨
Today and every day, we stand in solidarity with our global community to dismantle the intersecting systems of oppression. On International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we reaffirm our commitment to fighting racial injustice.

Let's work together to create a world where everyone, regardless of race or gender, can thrive free from discrimination, violence and injustice.

📣 16 Days of Activism: Self-Care

Researching, reading and engaging with so much information on gender-based violence can have a significant impact on your mental health and emotional well-being, which in turn can affect your body.

If you identify as a woman, these stats can feel personal and all too real, so it is important to take some time and reflect on what you need to be grounded in your body and feel healthy.

Taking care of yourself is non-negotiable; here are 3 empowering self-care activities to make YOU a priority:

🧠 Set aside time each day for mindfulness, whether a few minutes of deep breathing, meditation, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of tea. Let your mind recharge and honour your mental well-being. Remember, your peace is essential to your mental health.

📚 Engage in continuous learning about different perspectives and experiences. Listen to a podcast or attend an online workshop that broadens your understanding of the world. Knowledge is a powerful tool for self-empowerment and fostering empathy.

🎨 Let your creativity flow freely! Unleash your inner artist and use creativity as a therapeutic outlet – write, draw, paint, DIY, cook, create, and dance around your living room as an act of self-care!

Remember, self-care isn't selfish; it's a vital investment in your well-being. These activities are just a starting point—customize them to suit your needs and preferences, and take good care of yourself before stepping back into the world. 💖

📣 16 Days of Activism: Feminism

“Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong, it’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.” ― G.D. Anderson
🔑 Feminism plays a crucial role in addressing and combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by challenging deeply rooted gender inequalities and acknowledging the power imbalances between genders at societal, institutional, and interpersonal levels.

It examines the root causes of GBV, such as patriarchal norms, gender stereotypes, and systemic discrimination. By understanding these underlying factors, feminists work towards dismantling the structures that enable violence.

Feminists should recognize that experiences of GBV are shaped by intersecting identities, including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, religion, education, ability, etc., and that an intersectional feminist approach ensures that anti-GBV efforts are inclusive and consider the unique challenges faced by diverse groups. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Feminism provides a framework for understanding and challenging the deeply ingrained structures contributing to GBV. It seeks not only to address the immediate effects of violence but also to create a society where GBV is unthinkable and where everyone can live free from fear and oppression. ❤️
Anyone can practice feminism, be an ally, and help us create a safer, more equitable society for girls and women. ✨
