The Hart House Literary and Library Committee provides opportunities to explore various facets of the literary arts to students on all three U of T campuses and the GTA community as a whole. Possessing several varieties of the literary arts, HHLLC houses the following sub-committees:
The Facilities sub-committee includes the Hart House Library and Book Crossings zone and magazine collection in th
e Hart House Map Room, providing patrons with a wide selection of reading material to entertain and inspire. The Readings subcommittee attracts events to the Hart House community, and draws in audiences from all walks of life. From writing and publishing forums, to poetry readings, the Readings subcommittee is dedicated to listening to audience's desires, and attract specific events which embody Hart House's mandate, as well as the personal interests of the members who attend events. The committee also publishes the Hart House Review, a literary and art journal that coordinates poetry and short story contests whose winners are subsequently published in the Review. Printed by Coach House Press, the Hart House Review is available nationally in addition to certain web content being available online. The newly created Poetry Slam sub-committee plans to launch itself in January 2013, providing students of U of T to share their works a larger audience and socialize with students from the other two campuses.
